Hi all,

We just got back from a wonderful weekend at the BWV. It was our first time staying there and it certainly won't be our last! The weather was a little bit crazy, warm one minute, cool the next and on and on but other than that we had a great time.

Does anyone know what the The Attic Lounge is? We found it but the doors were locked so I'm guessing it is either a Cast Member only area or reserved for private functions. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay, so I did some research (should have done it first) and verified that the lounge is indeed used for private functions. So now the question is, has anyone ever been in the lounge and what is it like?

Thanks,

David

A couple years ago we were in the last room on that hallway just outside of The Attic. It seemed to be open most of the time we were there. Often we would see temporary signs place along the hallway directing participants of one convention or another to a gathering in The Attic.

IIRC it had sofas and tables scattered about. There are windows, if not a balcony that overlooks the BW. They either have food prep facilities right there or they simply wheel it in on carts--it wasn't unusual for us to see or smell food in the area.

It was comparable to any lounge / cigar bar that I've ever seen.

I once stayed a couple rooms down from the Attic. A wedding reception was held in that room. We peeked in - it was nothing special, just a meeting type room.

In some of the early information on BWV while it was under construction, it was stated that this would be a lounge for DVC'ers. But that was all dropped before BWV went on sale, and it was never opened to DVC'ers.

We were at BWV 3 weeks ago and had the room right next to The Attic. It was constantly in use or being set up for the next function. I poked my head inside a couple of times. As others have said, it's just a lounge with some chairs and couches. Other than the Boardwalk views out the windows, it did not seem like anything special. I suspect it functions as an annex to the BW Convention Center when a smaller room is needed for a meeting or reception.

I was married on the balcony outside the Attic (due to rain...it was supposed to be at Seabreeze Point). We had our little reception inside the Attic. We were told that a lot of private parties are held there. Apparently, it was a favorite place of Michael Eisner.

The room is supposed to look like the inside of somebody's attic (obviously!). I thought it was charming...I was happy it rained!!

so for all the functions held here , does the revenue acquired from these events help offset members dues? or does Disney keep it all , of course after paying for whatever food , cleaning cost associated with event.

Just wondering.

While it was originally planned as a gathering place for BWV members, that aspect was never developed. BWV owners do not "own" that portion of the property and have no benefit from any income derived from the facility.

It is used for private functions. I would define it's relationship to BWV as similar to restaurants and shops within DVC resorts - no revenues from those venues are part of the DVC budget either. They are separate revenue streams for Disney - but not for DVC members even though they are physically part of the DVC resorts.

Thanks Doc

Thats a good way tho think about it.

Hope you had a great trip too :thumbsup2

We were at BWV last week, in a villa up above Big River Brew. I did see some people out around The Attic and wondered about it. There were signs sending some group or other there for some kind of function. Thanks for the photos...I was wondering what it looked like and never seemed to remember to head on down to check it out.
