The ABCs of a Very Merry Christmastime Land and Sea Adventure-E is for: Eggs-eptional Brunch with Exceptional Service! (1/21)

I want to honor his last blessing and gift to me of "permission" to go.

Hug your loved ones. Tell them you love them often. Make sure they know how proud you are of them. Life is fragile.
What a gift from your Dad. ❤️ and incredible advice, too. Sending love to your family!

Thinking of you, Liesa ❤️ Hoping that taking a much-needed visit to your happy place provides you peace and comfort this week.

A quick update:

My trip will now start on the 11th and I have moved the Disney portion to after the cruise. Tentatively, of course. My dad, while growing very weak, has not passed and with my kids coming into town I just didn't feel right about leaving until this process is over. We have made all of the funeral arrangements and can be ready to have a service as early as Monday, but, as you know these things have zero predictability.

The amount of time and effort to change my flights, reservations, ADRs, everything has been exhausting on top of the already stressful and exhausting grief and work here providing 24-hour total care for Dad. Hopefully, I didn't miss anything. Who even knows. I was sad to have lost my Space 220 Lounge ressie. I tried to get into the bar a couple of years ago? 3? and was told there was no such thing as a walk-up list, even though I'd been told there was. I'm not hopeful about getting in at all. Has anyone tried this recently? Any luck?

On a positive note, I had a really good interview on Monday and while they said they'd be happy to hire me as a provider for the Workforce Clinic (Pre-employment physicals, DOT physicals, workman's comp injuries, etc...) they feel I'd be a much better fit in Primary Care with my own cohort of patients as my experience and passion is Family Practice and Internal Medicine across the lifespan. They are contacting the offices within that medical system in town that have openings and are trying to get fast-tracked interviews set up with the CAO of the company and the physicians.

You have to do what’s best for you and your family.

Completely understandable. A difficult time for all.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

That is good news. And you sure can use some, right now. Fingers crossed that it works out well for you.

I'm sorry to hear about the changes to your trip, but it is totally understandable.

Good luck with the job search. Things sound very promising.

H is for: Have Plan, Will Travel

Hi All, Here is the latest in this long saga. My dad passed away peacefully with my mom, my sisters, and me by his side after a long 2-weeks. He was fully lucid and asked to come home on hospice and to pass in his own home. My sisters and I provided his care taking turns staying up through the night with him, feeding him ice chips, turning him, personal care, etc... To say I'm exhausted is probably the biggest understatement of the year. The funeral is this morning and tons of out-of-town family has come in including all but one of his 10 grandkids. (My oldest daughter couldn't make it from Texas because she is 35 weeks pregnant.)

This trip is now a go and I'll leave VERY early on Wednesday morning. I'm hoping to make it with plenty of time to check-in to ASSp, and head straight to our ADR for Summer House on the Lake at 11:00. Afterwards, we'll pick up the rental car, then head to Jollywood Nights at 5:30.

I was devastated to have missed the time with Caroline ( @disneyAndi14 ) and Susan ( @suse66 ) and Su-Lynn and Kelly, but I am at peace knowing I did the right thing to be by my dad's side until the very end of his precious life. Now I can go on this trip with no regrets and really, truly enjoy my time away.

My plan is to post a photo or two each day while I'm gone as sneak peaks. I'm super looking forward to the cruise portion as I've never been on a Disney ship before. It'll be nice to see all of the holiday decorations as well in the parks and resorts.

Please do. You’ve earned some enjoyment I think.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know you would've regretted missing this time with your Dad and family, as hard as it was. (((hugs)))

Unfortunate to miss the time planned with your friends, but of course, you were in the place where you were needed most. What a gift that almost all of the grandkids and family are able to be together to say goodbye. It's Wednesday morning, so I'm thinking you're on your way or have arrived in FL by now. Enjoy this well-deserved relaxation and time away. Wishing you safe travels and lots of magical moments ahead!! ❤️

Lookin' like you took in some Jollywood. :)
Very nice picture of you, too.

I don't know what that is, but it sure looks decadent. :goodvibes
Was this on the ship? Can't believe you packed pirate-wear. Or was this something you knew about ahead of time?
Ah! @franandaj talks about Palo, often. :)
