Hi Guys-

Sorry I'm so darned needy today! :rolleyes1

DH and his friend coached DS4's t-ball team this year. Well, Saturday's the last game and awards ceremony. I mentioned making awards for the kids but to avoid any hurt feelings, having one for each of the kids. So, I'm looking for suggestions for something a little more specific than "taking part in the team" kind of thing. As you can tell, I'll be the one making the awards while they give them out Saturday morning. :goodvibes I'm not a t-ball or baseball expert so I'm not sure where to even go with this. I was thinking it would be nice if they were a little more on the "fun" side as opposed to something like "hit the farthest" or something like that.

I'm open to any and all suggestions!!

TIA! :goodvibes

Don't they all get little trophies? That's what our town does. They're generic, no thinking needed. :rotfl: Usually given out at the local ice cream place with the whole team and parents present.

Instead of the worthless trophies how about a t-shirt or a hooded sweatshirt, assuming the team has the money for them. Out local soccer league stopped the trophies and switched to hoodies which my daughter much preferred.

:thumbsup2 Except we go out for pizza. I've been going to these things for years!

DDs participated in a running program this Spring run by college students, and at the end of the year banquet they received awards. DD9 won the "Hardworking Hustler Award" and DD8 won the "Best Sense of Humor" Award. They were both very pleased with their awards.

Can you think of a good superlative for each child?

Several parents wanted to have a party after the game/awards thing but honestly, DH and I couldn't/wouldn't pay for everyone to go (it's about $12/kid and there's 13 on the team! :scared1: ). We are having a small party (pizza, chips and treats) between the game and the awards ceremony. Parents signed up to bring stuff but DH and I are buying the pizze ($75) with help from several parents who said they'd put in some money so we are putting our own money into this. Then after the awards ceremony, one of the dads arranged for the team to go have ice cream where the dad works (not sure how that's going to work out as far as cost or whatever). Sorry I should have mentioned the "party" part we're already working on.

I honestly don't know what the group does (I'm told this is the first year they've done anything for t-ball) and just wanted to make sure everyone got something that's cheap and easy for me to put together in the next couple of days.

I'm also thinking I'm going to make a "Most supportive Mom/Dad" for the kids to "sign" and give to their parents - we're the ones who do all the work! :rotfl: (j/k of course!)

I'm going to keep thinking on the ideas for each child. Thank you for the suggestions. If anyone has any more please feel free to keep them coming! :goodvibes

Our league also springs for the ice cream. It's not a wealthy league, but it doesn't cost too much for 13 or so ice creams. Can you look into that in your league so you won't be footing the cost for everything?

We use do a little pizza party and give all the kids medals with there names and the team name and the year. The kids love wearing them plus it really cheap to do

In DS5's league (where DH is the coach) we're taking up $6 from every parent for trophies, DH is making up some awards (best effort, best fly ball catch, etc.) and we're going to a restaurant for dinner to hand out the awards. Each parent will pay for their own meal, but we'll pick a place where kids eat free.

Our league provides uniforms for the kids, so hopefully parents won't mind giving trophy money.

In the past for DS8's team, we've given out "dog tags" instead of trophies. I don't remember if they were more expensive/cheaper/or the same, but they are a fun alternative to trophies. They look like dog tags but have the childs name and team/date inscribed on them.

How about things like:

Always on Time
Best Helper
Biggest Smile
Best Joke Teller
Fastest Runner
Best Sharer
Best Bug Catcher
Jr. Umpire
Best Attitude
Most Team Spirit

And of course you may have some that relate to how they played. Just think of one or two words that sort of sum up each kid and how you will remember them from the season.

ETA: forgot to metion that you can just print up each Award on your computer if you want-- Walmart and other stores have Award paper (try a teacher supply store), or if you want to be creative cut out round t-balls or bats from cardstock and decorate them and write the name of the Award and the name. Great for a Scrapbook or to put with the team photo.

How about:

Mr. (Ms.) Dependable - for the kid who always shows up no matter what.
Super Slugger -- best hit all season
Golden Glove Award - best catch/most consistent in the field
Mr. (Ms.) Hustle - for the kid who always runs it out
Most Optimistic
Most Improved
Most Likely to Sacrifice Him/Herself -- some kid's always throwing themselves in the dirt, usually for no reason :rotfl:
Best Team Player - kid who is willing to do anything, at whatever positon, whenever needed
Best Base Runner
Best Slide of the Year (if applicable)
