We are in the middle of planning a trip for this July and was considering staying at Beach Club. I heard the pool will be closed through June. We would be checking in on July 6. I don't want to stay at the Beach Club if the pool is still closed. Anyone know how accurate Disney is with their refurbishment deadlines?

As accurate as Disney is with any of their other refurb estimates - hit and miss. It seems they might like to have the pool open for the 4th of July crowds, but you're not going to have that answer until May or June. Keep in mind, the original schedule had the pool closed through May, and that was extended until June.

As accurate as project plans can be but things like weather, and equipment availability can either shorten the time-frame or miss it be several weeks.

I would reference the announcement of new Island Tower over at the Polynesian resort. They announced the opening date months in advance and it opened on the date planned and that included a Hurricane passing through the Orlando area.

Keep in mind, the original schedule had the pool closed through May, and that was extended until June.
Just to reduce further confusion SAB is still scheduled to be close through June and not just until June.

Thanks for this info. We have never stayed at Beach Club and have always wanted to try it out. I wouldn't want to stay there if the pool is closed. Looks like I better just find another resort because our date is so close to the deadline.

Construction can always be variable but Disney doesn’t have a track record of consistently being long with projects - things are usually on time, within reason. Personally I’d be totally comfortable booking for July, but would keep one eye open on the YC/BC thread around here just in case any new news comes about. July isn’t the busiest time of year around WDW so moving things around late shouldn’t be totally overwhelming (admittedly easier said than done for planners!).

We are booked at the GF July 20-25 and YC July 25-August 1. I'm keeping my eye on the BC/YC threads just in case
I have to make any changes.

I was going to rent DVC points so I wouldn't be able to change my plans once I book it. I wouldn't be as worried if I booked through Disney like I normally do.

Ahh, good point - yeah, that’s far riskier. I’d still bet money they’re done by July, but it’s not a risk less proposition!

Hope it all works out whatever you decide.

I was online today checking BC availability for my trip. FYI only 1 bedrooms are left in July.

Have they announced the exact date that it will close yet?
I could be wrong, but thought I was reading that it's just recently closed to begin the refurb. I suppose that could be a closure due to the cold weather, but thought the refurb closure has begun. I'll have to look closer at some of the comments I thought I read in the past few days.

Here is a comment from the Yacht & Beach Club thread. It was open as of January 5th.

I walked by BC/YC on Sunday, January 5th. Stormalong Bay was still open. Anyone there that can tell us if it has closed down yet?

Dave

Looking back, it was a FB group where I read it, but I should hold off comment until someone has first-hand knowledge. I hope it's soon - the sooner they start, the sooner they finish.
