First time doing a split stay. OKW to BLT. For the second resort, trying to determine what time we should request the room check in time. We typically never request before 4pm because we drive (live about 1.5 hrs away) so always come after regular check in time. However, we will be just driving over to BLT and go to the parks from there. It would not be end of the world not to have our room before we head out (around noon) but also would like to get a bit settled and not have to do so at 11pm or so when we are tired. With BLT construction I assume early check in around noon would be limited anyway. Since we never do an early check in, do you get any advantage of waiting and selecting an after 4pm arrival time? (better location, etc). Thanks in advance!

We often do split stays. I always mark our checkin time as before 4 on moving day. We usually do a park but arrive at our hotel early afternoon and check in with the front desk so they know we’re waiting. They’ve been very good about trying to get us in early which I always appreciate but never expect. No advantage to waiting as rooms are assigned ahead of time.

We check in as soon as we leave the resort and then go run errands or get lunch at a non-Disney restaurant. They always ask us if we are going to the park or waiting for a room. I don't know if it makes a difference, but we usually get a room between 1-3p.
