I am going to make a video of my mom's life to share at her retirement party and I need a good song to set it to any ideas??
TIA

It always makes me cry when set to video- but 100 Years by Five for Fighting is a great song.

They use it in that Chase credit card commercial where they show the couple going through the years (there's a Disney card when they have a kid!) and it always makes me cry

Not sure if you're going for serious or celebratory... you know- upbeat or sentimental, but I love the song!

Thats the one I was going to post!

"I've Had the Time of My Life" from Dirty Dancing

How about Time Of Your Life (Good Riddance) by Green Day:

Another turning point;
a fork stuck in the road.

Time grabs you by the wrist;
directs you where to go.

So make the best of this test
and don't ask why.

It's not a question
but a lesson learned in time.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs
and still frames in your mind.

Hang it on a shelf
In good health and good time.

Tattoos of memories
and dead skin on trial.

For what it's worth,
it was worth all the while.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

(music break)

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

Someone where I used to work did a retirement video for the Pres/CFO and the background music was "Happy Trails to You."

Thanks for the ideas
I am going for sentimental. She has been working in the same school system for 41 years.
I thought about Good Riddance

I thought I would share pictures from her life over the years as well as some school photos

Every time that Chase commercial comes on, I ask DH if it is a real song. Now I know....the things you can learn on this board!

My vote goes for this one. I've always liked it.

How about, "What a wonderful world"? Lyrics:

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"

I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world

This song always makes me get tears in my eyes. It would be lovely playing while photos go by. :) And may I say that I think it's wonderful that you're doing this for your mom. She must be a very special lady, and you must be a very special child for her. :goodvibes

Thanks so much for all the help. I downloaded 100 years and What a wonderful world would be great also.

Thanks she is a wonderful lady. She has spent 41 years in the education field and in the same school district. She started out teaching and has been a teacher, principal ( of 4 schools at the same time for awhile), Special Ed director, NCLB cooridnator, Title 1 coordinator and anything else you can think of when it comes to school. Most importantly she has been a terrific mom and my friend.

Wow! If anyone deserves a nice retirement party, it's your mom! Tell her "congratulations" for all of us here on DIS. What a wonderful role model she is, too. :) It's a true joy when one can call parents "friends." I'm sure she treasures you as much as you treasure her. :goodvibes
