So, who gave him the Hummer?

LeBron gets Hummer

A 18-year old with a brand new Hummer??? Hmmmmmm, no, I don't think there would be an agent (or shoe company, etc.) involved -- ya think?

I know someone younger with a hummer. One of those new ugly yellow ones

But the kid I know actually paid for his. IMHO it's pretty foolish of LeBron to accept the hummer without expecting anyone to figure out where it came from.

I thought the same thing when I heard the story this morning. I can't believe that it was a birthday present from his mom. :o Hmmm wonder if we will be seeing him in the NBA sometime soon.

Thankfully this thread was about a car... Phew.

There's no way an 18 year old can afford a HumV without some sort of Trust Fund!

Question is, why would anyone want one of these things? My neighbor has one, yet he can never take it anywhere, because when he comes home there would be nowhere to park the darned thing!

Is it just me, or are those things just plain ugly? And highly obnoxious and annoying to see on the road?

Maybe Santa Claus delivered it?;)

I think he's lost his amateur status. I hope he still decides to go to college if he's lost his amateur status though.:(

MY DH is always on about getting a Hummer. And I'm like dude, you have a Mini.....you're not getting a Hummer from me.

He's never satisfied

Snoopy -- I agree, they are horrible looking things, but for whatever reason, they are the "in" thing with athletes (esp. NBA players) these days.

browneyes -- I also thought about the amateur status, but then realized that there's about a .005% chance that he's even thinking about college. :(

Being in the military, and having both seen them and driven them, I would have to say that hummers are highly overrated.

Snoopy, all men want one. Just ask Chuckie. :teeth:

Actually, Laura, Chuckie does admire our neighbors. But he knows better - where we live, we have no driveways, and trying to park a Hummer in Georgetown is not really convenient (or possible!). :teeth:

No doubt there is an agent involved in this! I'm sure he knew exactly what he was doing when he told the mother to go to the bank and take out a loan to make it look legit. I think this is a very stupid move because it will be scrutinized a ton.

You aren't giving away military secrets again, are you Brenda? LOL

Two kids in my high school have Hummers.

One has the Hummer SUV, which isn't really a Hummer Hummer, you know?

The other has an older bigger one...his parents got him it because his brother died in a car accident when he was in High School. They wanted to get him the "safest car possible".

Then again, I live on Long Island, so this isn't that unusual.

It won't make any difference who gave it to him...as soon as he is out of high school he will be in the NBA. The worst that can happen is he won't be allowed to play high school ball anymore. Think he cares??? NOPE.... :)

Back in my "dating days" I dated a basketball player who received not one, not two but 8 cars by people trying to persuade him. He was later given a major reprimand but I remember that it was a common practice.
