Creamy vs NonCreamy Cucumber Salad

Do you enjoy cucumber salad?
If yes, do you like it creamy or noncreamy?
Do you make it, buy it, or eat someone else’s?
(multiple choice)

*This poll is for basic cucumber salad. There’s many types of cucumber salads, so if you like a specialty cucumber salad and would like to post a recipe, please do, many would enjoy seeing it.

For Me…..Due to my UC, this is on the do not eat list, but my DH loves creamy cucumber salad, so I buy it for him. I just put some in a container for his lunch, which is what inspired this poll. Back in the good ol days, when I could eat it, I liked creamy best.

I have an issue with raw onions. can't eat anything with them in it. I can eat somethings with cooked onions. Weird, I know.

Frankly I didn’t know they made one 🤣🤣 my days of eating cucumbers are long gone sadly - can’t say I’ve ever had cucumber salad even when I could eat them

I wasn't a huge fan but the creamy cucumber was a big hit when my Mom made it at family gatherings.

I think I prefer creamy but my kids love vinegar so since that’s healthier, that’s what I make. Cucumber just starting to produce fruit in the garden.

I don't think I've ever seen either types. But, I do not like cucumbers so maybe never paid attention anywhere it's been served. I know it's not serve at our house. If I get cucumbers in a regular salad in a restaurant, I'll generally pass them on to Marie, she likes them most of the time though not always.

Cucumbers are one of those things that have grown on me as I got older. I like them just about any way now.

Growing up, my parents and grandparents would eat sliced cucumbers and onions soaked in a mixture of water, vinegar and sugar. They ate that a lot in summer, when cucumbers came in.

I don't care for cucumbers, however my husband does. He makes this often - thin sliced cucumber, onions, a dash of vinegar and mayo.

Same for me. And even cooked onions need to be in very small pieces or it's just too much onion at once.

I would just eat sliced cucumbers in Ken's Italian dressing.

I voted other. I love cucumbers and eat a lot of them but I don’t know of a specific thing called cucumber salad, like the ones you’re describing. If I was going to conjure up a cucumber salad for myself it would be chunked cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and black olives tossed in Italian dressing and hit with a little parmesan.

I make a simple one with cucumber slices and grape tomatoes. - Just let them marinate in Italian dressing for a while in the fridge.

I don't remember exactly where I've had the creamy kind, but I liked that too.

My mom and nana used to make both kinds, all the time, but we hadn't had it in about 50 years. I saw a recipe a few months ago and shared it with DD, and now we are having cucumber salad every other week. We all enjoy it- both versions- and cukes are pretty affordable right now. DD likes to tweak the recipe, adding different herbs or some diced peppers (sweet or hot), etc.
