Hey all

Been a LONG time since I posted. Hope everyone is doing well. We need some info/advice/recommendations and this was the first place I thought to come.

We are a month away from our first DL trip in THREE years. (Ugh!). Our kids are now 6 (45 lbs) and 4 (35 lbs). We realize they are on the older side, but with all the walking we are doing to be doing, my wife and I agree that having a stroller would just make things so much easier. We have had a Britax Stroller since our first child and luckily it was expandable to 2 seats now they are past it's weight limit unfortunately.

So that out of the way, we are trying to find some good stroller options.

1. A sit stand style with a weight limit of about 50 per spot would be ideal so we can have the stroller to use for a LITTLE while.
2. The option for the kid sitting on the jump seat to face forward (even if their feet are in the storage basket.)
3. Bonus: A handle that can pivot up and down. Not required but my wife is a lot shorter than me so this options is handy for her.
4. One that can fold relatively compact.
5. Obviously, one that meets Disneyland's stroller requirements.

That's about it. I did a lot of Googling this morning but nothing has really jumped out at at me yet. I was also considering a double stroller but based on what I have seen, they fold too big to fit in my car and we wouldn't have room for luggage or anything! Also not opposed to a double (side by side) but again would be concerned of it's size when folded.

I think the real sticking point is going to be the weight limit. One of the kids is right at the limit on most models it seems.

Appreciate any any advice. Thank you.

Have you thought about a rental when you're at Disneyland?
Here is one option with City Stroller Rentals. It has weight limits 40 lbs Main Seat 55lbs Bench Seat

We have a Joovy Ultralight sit/stand stroller, and I think your total weight is ok for it. There are multiple models of it. I would say even those the weight might be find if you have tall kids, the only in the back might find it tight if they are sitting on the little bench.

We are now out of the weight limit, but it was handy when the kids were slightly smaller.

I have a 6 and 2 year old and my 6 year old needs to rest when we’re there all day. A Double BOB is probably best although these are large and expensive. I used to have one and it was a great Disney stroller but mine broke (it was quite old) and I didn’t want to replace it. I tried making my 6 year old walk and it was too annoying. So a new stroller it is.

After a lot of research I settled on either the Graco RoomFor2 or the Baby Trend Sit N Stand. Neither checks all of your boxes, but both of these have a 50-pound max per seat. For myself I chose the Graco (and it comes today!). I bought it on sale at Walmart this week for $111 plus tax. After I put it together and try it out I can report back.

Edited to add: Disney rents double strollers so that’s another option.

That was actually the very first one I found when researching. I'd say it's a contender but from what I can tell we are AT the weight limit right now (45 lbs) so we wouldn't have any leeway with growing room. Are those weight limits pretty strict? I never thought about it before. But if they have a bit of flexiblity, that could be good.

Our daughter is the 6 year old and is 44 inches. Pretty average if not short for her height.

Recently also just came across the Gracos and Baby Trends. Both seem to have a higher weight limit, and are inexpensive. But for them they seem gigantic, even with folder. I'd love to hear how the Graco is when you get it.

I mentioned the rentals at Disneyland. My wife hates the idea of throwing the money away essentially but I would still say it's an option, if not an ideal one.

You may want to look at Facebook Marketplace. If this may be the only time you use the stroller, you'll find one MUCH cheaper :)

We really liked our City Mini stroller for Disneyland (we used the single) but the double is rated for 100lbs, folds easily and meets the DL requirements. It is a side by side but fits through most doorways, aisleways

I didn't know this until a short while ago, but last night my wife found a post with ultimately what she would like to do with a sit/stand. It's pure coincidence it happened to be a post from this site. But the stroller in that post is a Baby Trend Sit N' Stand, which looking at it more may actually be one of our finalists now. I can't seem to find it's dimensions when closed but I may just need to buy one and see how it fits in our car.

I got a used double bob from facebook marketplace for my 3+6 (now 7) year old (oldest is ~45 pounds, youngest is 32), it was cheaper than multiple rentals at the park over a year and works well. I also loved the citi mini double I rented back in September, it's great for taller kids.

Edit to add that I tried a sit&stand but my kids fought over the real seat, unfortunately...

We had this stroller. The thing I hated about it was no shade cover for either kids. Hard to have kids walk all day…also hard to have kids bake in the sun all day. Or at least my kids! :)

I found a used BOB double stroller on Craigslist. Best purchase ever! In fact, we beat the crap out of it traveling and loved it so much, I finally broke down and bought a newer version on Amazon, which happens to be more streamlined and fits all the stroller requirements for DLR these days. Its an investment, but it’s worth it, IMO.

I'd look on used sites for a double City Mini GT. We used the regular City Mini double (no adjustable handle) model when our kids were about that age/weight and it was so easy to steer compared to a long Sit and Stand. It folds up easy and small (just lift the handles, gets even smaller for loading in a car with the push button release wheels), has a good sunshade. And like others said, your kids don't end up fight over the "good" seat.

We ordered a Sit N Stand Ultra this evening and are gonna see how it works for us. I don’t know if it’s the exact same one from the link I posted as it DOES have a canopy for the front seat. Still you bring up a good point about nk shade for the back. Hopefully it won’t be too bad since we are going on December. They actually make an actual back seat you can add on the the stroller but my wife really thinks our older kid will want to use the standing feature most. We shall see.

Nice!! Great to hear they’ve changed the design to give at least one seat (the baby sized seat up front) shade! Let us know what you think when you get it, please. We’re all in this stroller business together. ;)

The Joovy issue does interfere with flexibility of the bars when making turns. Since it's "lightweight" you can definitely tell the flexing when you are at the weight limit or close.

Hey all. Just wanted to share an update. Over the weekend we got a Baby Trends Sit N Stand Ultra from Amazon. We were so excited to get it and really thought it would be perfect. But when it arrived we immediately just didn’t like it. Both of our kids, who are both below average in height and weight looked ridiculous in it, our daughter especially.

We didn’t like how either kid fit in the front or back. Didn’t like that one kid would have no covering and we overall disappointed with the cheap quality of the stroller. (We knew it was a budget model but still.)

So this lead me back on the hunt. Somehow after searching something like “Stroller for older kids” I eventually stumbled upon this video on YouTube with a mom that frequents WDW with 2 kids far older than ours. In her video she was using a Baby Jogger City mini GT. I couldn’t tell you why exactly. It could have just been her video but me and my wife took to it immediately. Read reviews, researched it and just couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Our local baby store had one (actually a GT2) on display so we packed up the kids and headed there to try it out. We let the kids try it and we got to see how it fit in our trunk. We liked it so much more than the baby trends! We never once considered a side by side stroller but here we were trying and liking one. The kids were so much more comfortable in it and the stroller was just (of course) over all nicer and we ended up buying the floor model as it’s all they had. (The model is about to be discontinued I think.)

We certainly didn’t expect to spend a little over $400 on a stroller but it was a good deal and despite the cost we are so much happier with this one and know the kids will be far more comfortable.

Glad you found a stroller you’re happy with! I have a single City Mini and I love it.

My Graco RoomFor2 came and I’m really happy with it for the price. I paid $112 for it and I’m hoping to get a year or so out of it, mostly for Disneyland. It has the same issues you mentioned you didn’t like about the Baby Trend, kind of small seats and only one shade cover (although I feel like it’s pretty darn nice for the price), so you might not have liked the Graco either, but it’s going to fit the bill for us until I can convince my son he can walk all day. 😆

Glad you found one that works well for you. They also resell fairly well when you grow out of it (not quite as well as BOBs). Have a great trip!

That's good to know about the resell, thank you. We do hope to get 1-2 years out of it though.
