Single rider line at Rise

Hello! I'm going on a solo trip next month and I heard that they have been testing a single rider line at Rise of the Resistance. Does anyone know anything about this continuing on it was it just for this week?

If the option is available a CM will be at the line entrance holding up a Single Rider end of the line sign.

From a video I watched, it drops you in the room with the storm troopers. You miss the BB8 and the transport rooms.

Are they assigning groups in the shuttle bay/stormtrooper room now? Unless they hold the single riders there and add them to groups where needed, what's to keep groups willing to miss part of the pre-show from getting mixed into the groups already in that room and then just riding together?

Or are the single riders "escorted" further to the interrogation rooms where they get split up as needed?

Personally, even if I was riding alone, I wouldn't want to miss the briefing and shuttle, so I don't see myself ever using a SR line if it bypasses those parts of the experience. But I'm curious about the logistics of it.

CMs direct you through the stormtrooper room to the line on the left hand side, which goes to where they assign groups.

Totally agree. I love the briefing room and would hate to miss the shuttle. I assume (haven't been there since this was added) that once the single riders are added, you are in a separate line like EE or Test Track. But, I'm not sure how that fits into the story line. Maybe that's over thinking it.

It’s really personal choice. We have ridden a few times and are not huge SW fans so we would have no problem being dropped in the interrogation room (or elsewhere) to miss a chunk of the wait.
Agreed. I've used SR lines plenty of times (especially MF:SR and Everest), and sometimes even LL bypasses interesting parts of queues (FoP, Peter Pan, etc.). But, for me, the shuttle (and to a lesser extent, the briefing) are part of the ride, not just part of the line.

I'm willing to wait longer (or pay for LL) to experience those. I've been fortunate to never have those portions skipped after waiting in SB or paying for LL. I would find the lack of those elements "disturbing."

16 minutes from entering the single rider line to getting off the transport last week Wednesday. Took about 30ish on Friday. A great option when you have already been through the ride a few+ times.

Hubby asked if they will have this all time, and the cast member said just on busy days, so no guarantee it’s here when you visit.

Totally agree. I have never watched *any* of the Star Wars movies. I went on RoTR the first time because the rest of my family (Star Wars fans) wanted to ride it and I had heard that it was a pretty amazing ride. All of the rooms before the loading area are pretty meaningless to me and I've experienced them 3 time now. I'd be perfectly happy to skip all of those if I could.

I loved the single rider line. Look for the cast member holding the “single rider” sign. You’re asked if you’ve been on this ride before as you'll miss part of the experience. You may also be asked how old you are (I had my 8 yo with me) and also asked if you understand that you won’t be riding together if you’re more than a party of one. Someone will escort you to another CM holding another sign. Then a second escort takes you backstage briefly (no photos / video allowed) and you emerge at the same point where the ship docks. The guests disembark the ship and you’re sent into the stormtrooper room (“into the abyss” as our third escort CM called it) where a CM will direct you to the left lane, aka the one for “solo spies”. So that lane is exclusively for single riders when it’s in use. You’re matched with a group and told to stand with them, and the ride progresses as usual.

It was super fast. The backstage glimpse is also very cool but brief. I’ve been on RotR at least 30 times so it was nice to experience something new on it. There was also some additional dialogue on the escape itself but I suspect that was due to delays.

Same. I actually find this incredibly depressing and I hope they get rid of it. The "preshow" on Rise is part of the experience. Then again I got raked over the coals for saying this on FB when it came up the other day. I'm sorry, I just hate the continual slow degradation of story and immersion in these parks and this is another case of it to me, probably the worst example yet.

Possibly I’m misunderstanding but, why would you wish they got rid of the single rider option? If you don’t want to use it, you don’t need to but I don’t quite understand the desire to take it away from other guests who want to use it? It speeds up everyone’s rides if they fill all the vehicles rather than empty seats.

It’s just an option, you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to. And it probably helps shorten the standby line, which you are free to wait in if you want to experience the full preshow (assuming it’s working, which it wasn’t the first time I rode it a few years ago).

I’m at Rise right now. No single rider option so I asked a CM about it. They were testing the last two weeks. No info on whether it’ll be made official yet or not.

Current posted wait time is 40 minutes. At 7 minutes into the line I was in the room with the outfits, helmets, gear. (Not sure what the room is called.) At 10 minutes into the line we were in the room being told to fill all available space. Things seem to be moving briskly.

My wife would send me through the single rider line, even if it was longer, to keep me from calling out that coward Poe Dameron when he bails out of the fight to ‘go get help.’

You had an Individual opinion in a Disney FB group? Critical error. Opinions that do not conform are not allowed.

In happier news welcome to the Land of the Banished. We have various opinions around here and when we get too annoyed we drink margaritas and eventually forget why we were annoyed in the first place pixiedust:

Was at HS yesterday - no single rider line. Posted time was 50 min. Took 40 min to the front of the line.
I think single rider would make things go more quickly. It took time to divide parties into different lines/rows and try to fill in empty spots with the odd/even line up.

The important thing here is CHOICE. If, for example, I don't particularly like strawberry ice cream and feel that vanilla is better in so many ways - that doesn't mean strawberry ice cream should be gotten rid of. In this case, being given a choice to skip the line, not ride with your own travel group, miss parts of a pre-show is something that is desired by some. That doesn't mean that everyone must choose this - especially people who don't like it. Non degradation does not include forcing guests to experience something to insure they are immersed if they choose not to be. For people who've ridden this ride many many times and just want one more experience, missing parts - especially parts that are designed to keep guests entertained while waiting for the main event.
We all "do disney" differently and having choices is almost always a very good thing.

I don't necessarily mind that they offer this (though I am of the opinion that the pre-show elements are integral on this one), but I don't like that they take you in some backstage way. I think they should be more protective of that kind of view. If they cover that up so that the SR entrance is still "on show" (even if not highly themed), then I am okay with that. They have done this in other cases before, but I don't care for it.
