I bought a CM book for our upcoming 25th anniversary Land and Sea cruise. I did the first page with an announcement, wedding picture, etc. It looked beautiful. Then the problem occured. I found this really cute pic of Mickey Mouse at a steering wheel of a boat and I found a sheet of great vellum paper to place it on. I bought some vellum glue to attach it. If I would have stopped there it would probably have been ok, but I wanted to add some lettering. Instead of using stickies I decided to take the quicker route (bad idea!) and use the vellum glue. Oh my gosh you should see what happened. The Mickey page is ok looking but the first page with our wedding stuff the paper got a bit wrinkled and stiff. I am so afraid I have totally ruined this page. I can't really redo stuff as this wedding invite was the only left from 25 years ago. Does anyone have any help they can suggest? I feel like this is hopeless. Should I just leave it alone and learn from my massive goof? Please all you new scrappers take note so this doesn't happen to you. :(

I'm so sorry this happened. Would this be a time when un-do would work and allow you to remove the items and start over? Good luck.

Connie, I'm so sorry this happened to you. What kind of adhesive did you use on your invitation? As long as it was some kind of self-adhesive (not a glue), the un-do should work. At least that's what the guy said on DIYScrapbooking. I was a little leary of using it until I saw that show. And I actually had to use it the other day on a layout. I had to reposition a photo (that I'd used a tape runner on) as well as some stickers. It worked wonders.

Connie,
I am so sorry this happened to you. I hope that the undo will work but if it is not the right kind of adhesive, I would do away with the Mickey page and cut your invitation off the page. If you work carefully, you can get all the page paper off except where the glue actually adhered. Good luck. I know this is a really special album for you.

Yes, the product I used was an adhesive. Even though I don't think I can use "undo" in this situation, I had never heard of it. Is it a CM product or maybe Michael's carries it?

Yes, Michael's probably carries UN-DU adhesive remover. It's not just a craft item. It's like a hardware dept item. Probably at Walmart & Home Depot too.

It neutralizes the adhesive on the back of anything that is "self adhesive" long enough to remove the items. It evaporates quickly & the item can be re-stuck again in just minutes.

Photo safe. Acid free. Use on: paper, glass, plastic, walls, most clothing, finished leather, vinyl, upholstery, carpet, wood furniture, metal & more.

I couldn't live without it. :) Also wonderful for removing stuck photos in those yucky old magnetic photo albums.

I just thought of something to maybe help you -- not sure however.

I don't know anything about CM albums. Apparently they don't have sheet protectors -- or this wouldn't have happened I guess.
Can you take the pages out of the book (like 3 ring binder or postbound or strap hinge)? If so, then consider this "fix".

BEFORE you start trying to take the page apart, get it color copied like at Staples. (Maybe the wrinkles & stiffness won't show in the color copy.) Then remove the damaged page; and replace it with the color copy.

I know it's not a great fix -- but maybe it can help you somehow.

Good luck.
Do they sell sheet protectors that you can slide onto the pages in the book? I would invest.

Here is another thought - I haven't tried it with quite as much stuff on a page or as precious a page as you have so IF you try it I'd definitely get it color copied first. And I may not be understanding what you've described correctly either.

It sounds like the portion of the page where you put vellum glue is where the stiffness came in and that is where something wrinkled. The letters? I'm going to suggest a little bit of heat and pressure. Just be REALLY careful around the actual photos and don't get too hot.

I do a lot of sewing and am pretty comfortable using my iron in some pretty unconventional ways! I tried this on a page that only had paper on it. I set my iron fairly low and then with another piece of paper in between (no color to the paper and make CERTAIN the steam is turned off) I started to slowly press the wrinkled area. The heat was enough to soften the glue and smooth it out. The little bit that seeped out around the edges was picked up on the extra paper and I had a soft cloth handy to dab up the rest.

Otherwise I'd probably go the cut the announcement out and start over route that chessie suggested.

Goo luck - what a bummer!

I have gotten so many wonderful suggestions from this forum to help with my goof I cannot thank you enough. It makes me feel better that there may actually be a solution. I have to say I am not feeling quite so upset now-I will keep you posted as to what I try.
