I am just wondering if anyone has eagen at Sci Fi restaurant and if so, how was the food? Is it real loud and dark? My husband and i along of our 2 older daughters are the type that enjoy sitting at the table and talking. I know we sit like in a car and watch old movies like they used to do. Did hear it is very loud! I am just tryi g to get some feedback on this. Dont want to be disappointed! Thanks for your feedback!!

My son and I enjoyed Sci-Fi and plan to return for our upcoming trip. It's dark enough to feel like a theater, but not too dark to see your food. Never felt it was annoyingly loud- it's loud enough to hear the movie clips like in a normal theater, but that's all. You can still talk at your table- it's not a library so no worries. You're seeing retro ads and sci-fi clips, not a full movie, so no one is closely following a storyline or anything like in a real theater. We liked the food: ribs were good.

We eat there every trip. It is a little dark but you can still see. I did have trouble reading the menu but I cant see very well anyway:rotfl: Not real loud you can still hear each other talk. The only thing I ever order is the steak and it is really good. Once we went to Cinderellas Castle and I had steak then went to Sci Fi the next night. In my opinion Sci Fi's steak was way better. I know I eat to much steak lol.

If you want to be able to visit better with each other, you could consider asking to sit at the tables in the back. The cars are fun, but since they force you to sit facing the screen, it can make it tough for group conversation. Either way it was one of my favorite restaurants when we went last September. :)

It's not that loud. You can certainly talk to the person next to you.

Also, some of the cars face front, while others have "riders" facing in, towards each other.

We just ate there for the first time. I ordered the chicken pasta. It was excellent. However it was very dark. I had to take my phone out to see what I was eating.

My girl loves that chicken pasta, that is what she has ordered the past 2 years.

It's one of our favorites! But it's so dang difficult to get a reservation that we've had to miss it a couple of trips, including our trip in a couple of weeks. :sad2:

My family is going Decembet 3rd through 10th. Do we need advance reservations or can we take a chance of just going and trying to get a table or car? Apprecuqte allbyour feedback!

It is dark. As in "hard to read the menu" dark.

The food is fine; we've always gotten burgers and enjoyed them.

And the atmosphere is great.

It's a great experience to try and probably one the kids will never forget. Burgers are good and kids always love going.

When I first joined disboards in 2005, SciFi was NOT well-reviewed on here, so we avoided it on 4 trips. Went to wdw for my birthday in 2014 and booked Sci Fi for dinner right before Osborne Lights. Omg! We had so much fun! My kids were 16 and 21 at the time and loved it. My husband said, "Why have we never been here?". The shakes are great, the burgers are good, but the atmosphere was amazing!!! Our server was from Africa and he had the most beautiful speaking voice and was funny. He sang "Happy Birthday" to me even though my birthday was 2 days later. I have it booked for our upcoming (mom and dad only) trip!!!

We ate there in 2008, didn't like it (food was not good). Because of changes since then and recently read reviews (from accepted sources), I decided to give it a try again on our last trip (Feb. 2016). We loved it. I have four children ages ranged from 4 - 17. My burger and shake was delicious. My husband did not get a burger, but also enjoyed his meal. I liked it so much, I tried getting ADR's for an upcoming trip, but it's booked. Go for it!

Do an ADR. They only hold one or two spots for walk-ups, and not the cars.

We've gone several times and it's been very quiet! I don't think we ever heard anyone speaking above a whisper. There were definitely no big conversations happening. And the only way to get a car is via a reservation- at least thats what we were told.
We loved the artichoke or spinach dip!

We've been going to HS since it opened and for some reason never did Sci-fi until a year ago. We were walking by one day around 11:30 and decided to see what the chances were to get in for lunch. Three adults. It was before it opened for the day but there was a podium staffed with CMs they took names for waitlist. We were like the 2nd people on the list. Got in before most people with ADRs and sat back in the back at the 4 top tables (not the little round ones, the ones with 2 facing each other). It was a little dark but we used our cell phones for the menu, the little clips were cute and we enjoyed the food. My son and DIL had hamburgers and beers, I had a veggie burger and a shake. I think we had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. We all enjoyed it, big burgers, no way could I finish more than a little over a half of mine. We had no problems conversing with each other.

I thought the food that I had was good. I believe it was only a sandwich ..and I don't believe they have it anymore, which is a bummer. It is very dark inside but honestly, it's very very cool. Didn't find it overly loud or anything.

I think I'm in the minority here. It isn't a restaurant on the top of our list to return to, but it is fine. I should explain that I think my expectations were high because our 1st experience with it was during SWW for SW breakfast & it was fantastic! The food was outstanding, theming was great, interactive experiences were phenomenal, & constant movie clips of SW just added to it.

We returned last year for lunch & the excitement was gone. The food was good but nothing spectacular, it was a sandwich or a burger. Sitting in the cars wasn't the best with an odd numbered party because it meant 1 of us sat alone (I should have thought ahead to ask for a back table). The same movie clips were repeated so frequently it got boring. I almost wish they'd just play a movie straight through.

Overall it was fine, & certainly an experience to do at least once. I just wish it was as good as we had experienced the 1st time.

We love SciFi; didn't eat there last year and regretted it! The food was good, great burgers and awesome milkshakes:)
If you are going for conversation though, I differ with the PP's in that the atmosphere (dark, with movies) is conducive to relaxing, watching the movie clips, enjoying the food, and enjoying the AC. That's what we do, and it's really a nice break where you don't have to talk a lot. We just enjoy the quiet time and atmosphere!
