HELP!! I am not the least bit clever! I would love to surprise my kids with the fact they are cruising in October on the Magic. I would love to have them go on a scavenger hunt and find items like sunscreen, sand buckets, bubble gum, activity books, disney dollars, etc. But as my DH said, "Please don't have the clues just be 'look in the dryer' but be creative." So I am asking for everyone to put on their thinking caps or share what they've done in the past. I need clever clues to send my children running through the house. Thanks for your help!!!
:yay: :cheer2: :yay:

How old are they? That would make a difference as to difficulty.

I did something like this for an Easter Egg Hunt. I made a four line ryhme that made it sound like a riddle. Just gear it to the kids age and it can easy without being dumb. (Like "look in the dryer").

My kids are 10, 8, and 5. I'd like something that the 10 yr old won't say "this is dumb" but my 5 yr old would get as well. Maybe I'd do the clues with their names on it and for example the 10 yr old gets the first clue, the 8 gets the second, the 5 gets the third, 10 gets 4th, 8 gets 5th, 5 gets 6th, etc.

Cute idea!! I would definitely give the kids their own clues, that way you can make them personalized for each one, easy or harder. (you just have to make sure the older ones don't give away the answer to the 5yr old cuz I'm sure they'll get it first) Also, I'd make the clues have some sort of tie-in for their interests; does one like to play outside? Have the clue be by the swingset/playset, bikes, etc. Does one play a sport or ballet? Have the clue by the baseball bat/mitt, etc or have the clue be inside the ballet bag/shoe, etc. There is so much you can do to make it creative and fun for them (and you)!!!! Make sure you videotape so you can look back and remember how much fun it was! You can have the last clue be a big blow-up boat or a boat piniata and put something inside like T-shirts that has your family name on it; like The "Jones' cruise". Just get some cheap white t-shirts and color them with permanent markers. (At the resorts they have coloring pages that they put inside a white shirt and you trace and color the picture through the layer of fabric.) You can get a Disney picture with a cruise boat and/or characters, make a couple of copies and put one in each shirt. You and your husband can take an evening and color them, put the kids' names on them and have them as the end treasure! They'll love it!!

Good luck and let us know what you come up with!

In the dryer:

The clothes are damp
and then they're not
because Mom spends time
near this hot spot

In the 7th Harry Potter book:

The first six have made it
to the big screen
only this one is yet to be seen

Spice rack:

Season up the food we eat
or sweeten up a little treat.

Thanks robsmom for the great riddles!! They are perfect. You are very clever and I will definitely be copying those. Anyone have some more?

Does it have to rhyme?

If you just want clues, I might do something like this.

Mickey and Minnie make 2, Donald and Daisy also make 2.
Donald's 3 nephews are: __________, _________ & ________.
One of these nephews names, sounds like what Donald always says Ah, _______ !

etc, etc, etc. Number the blanks like you would a Mad Lib.

Then your clues read like a story while the younger ones surround your 10 yo on the couch (allowing you to video).

Huey, Dewey and Louie will not being saying Phooey,
When they go with their pal Mickey and set sail on the Magic!

54 days(I'm a big fan of making the kids learn - use some math - ie...7 dwarfs x 6, etc), and we'll leave, on a week long magical cruise.

If you haven't seen the countdown calendars that some of the people have masterfully created, you could then present them with one and let them put it together. (they are like the paper chains the kids do at school)

nice clues thanks......
First, decide whether you will be hiding items or if they will be items that are already in place at your location.
Next, decide if you want to have a theme for your hunt. If so, you will want your clues to coincide with that scavenger hunt theme.
Another thing to think about: do you want your clues to link together to lead to one ultimate clue? For example, each team only gets one clue and when they find that one, there is another clue waiting for them at that location to lead them to the next spot. Or, do you want to give your participants a list of items and they go for it all at once in whatever order they choose?
Clues should be age appropriate. For small children maybe the clues are pictures of the items if they can't read yet. For more challenging adult scavenger hunts, maybe your clues are in a code that teams need to decipher.

I have a list from a previos thread, that Ill post for you. I also have a Hidden Mickey list that will work also.

Heres the link. Someone else asked a while ago, and it was quite a few pages. This a condensed version of all of the suggestions from that thread. There are some of the answers on the bottom of the last page.

This is a Hidden Mickey page I made up from known Hidden Mickeys. It can also keep big and little kids occupied in both the terminal and the ship.(These are from the Magic and Wonder Im still working on the Dream and Fantasys)

Not sure why. I just looked and it shows anyone with the link should be able to view. What time did you try it and when? I reset it last night around midnight I think. Try it again and let me know if you still get the same message. Heres the pages though just in case.

Hidden Mickeys
A decor Mickey, would be the Mickey heads on the funnels, or the Mickey heads, that are placed on the bldg. A true hidden Mickey, is one that you have to look for, but doesnt exactly jump out at you, such as the ones in the filligree on the bow. Some will say the outlets on the floor of the terminal are hms, but I personally dont think so, since they arent round, but more rectangular.
There are 7 on the exterior of the front of the bldg.
Look on the north west corner of the second floor roof area. You will have to go out the door by the front elevator to the stair well to see it!
The floor design of sea life has one--look for the sand dollars near the check-in lines
In the floor of the terminal the electrical outlets are arranged in groupings of three in the shape of Mickey.
Gangway The entry funnel.
"I cannot be found aboard the ship, But at the onset of this trip. Suited up in scuba gear, With air tanks full - so have no fear." There is a Mickey in scuba gear on the gang plank, and one on the floor of the terminal.
How many hms, are on the funnels?
