I have a Ryobi fan that uses the lithium batteries. DCL says it permits lithium batteries in your carryon luggage, but I’m not sure they are talking about these. Has anyone taken a fan like this onboard?500130

That is a mighty sized fan. Per The DCL Prohibited Items list here: Link

The following electrical appliances will be collected for inspection by the Chief Electrician and if approved, will be returned for use onboard the ship.
  • Portable fans
At worst they'll take it on the grounds of the charging mechanism, but I have no insight to their policies on it.

If anyone in the future cares, I contacted DCL.

From a DCL representative:
We are not able to open outside links to check on that specific item for you, I do apologize. As long as the fan it portable and battery-powered you would be able to bring it onboard without it needing to be inspected by the Chief Electrician onboard.

Danielle at 15:53, Jun 10:
It has batteries like you use in power tools. Stem pack lithium rechargeable batteries.

Shep at 15:55, Jun 10:
We do not have a restriction in place for that type of battery being brought onboard. A full list of prohibited items can be found at the link below.

Danielle at 15:55, Jun 10:
Okay! I will give it a go and see what happens! Thank you for your time.

Shep at 15:55, Jun 10:
My pleasure!

Is there anything else I can assist you with today?

Danielle at 15:56, Jun 10:
That should be it. Thank you again!

How long does the charge last? Will you be needing to recharge while on the cruise? If so, you'd have to have the charger OK'd by the Chief Electrician (it has a cord, correct?).

The charge will last multiple nights, but I will have the charger with me. The charger has a cord and I assume the Chief Electrician will check it. I guess we will see!
