DH loves it, but he hates the commercials and all the chatter. Some years ago HGTV (I think) had just the parade. No commercials, no talking. If anyone finds a site or channel that does this, please post.

Great American Family has it. I can’t find the behind the scenes show that used to be an hour before we always enjoyed that. We plan to watch the parade and all of the football games today.

KTLA5 will have it but I'm sure there will be ads. Chatter can be solved with the mute button at least not sure what to do about the ads though

It will be streamed by multiple sources, including YouTube. Maybe the streams won't have commentators?

We use mute during normal watching tv , but using the mute button also cancels the music from the bands. The chatter is over everything. There are times they do say stuff like "they used 5 millions pounds of sesame seeds to make fields of hay", but most of the time it's stupid stuff like "hey, your tie matches the uniform of the sleepy hallow high school marching band" Drowning out the band.

I agree the commentary can be annoying. It seems like whoever is doing the broadcast has been handed a notebook of things to say for each float/band by the show's producers and feels like they always have to be talking. During the recent Thanksgiving Day parade there was some sort of technical issue with one of the floats and the announcers didn't seem to know what to say/do once they read the prepared script..........LOL.

We happened to be in CA one year and got to see the parade in person. The floats with all of the live flowers are beautiful to see in person, watching on TV is nothing like seeing it live. For all of their chatter, I can't ever recall them saying what those awards actually mean. Is there some sort of cash prizes or is it just the privilege of being able to say a certain float won something?

Yea I didn't think of the bands. Hopefully someone will have it that way. I agree the chatter is valuable about 1% with the rest you are wondering why are you even talking....

I hope you enjoyed the Rose Parade! The last two weeks have been non stop for me. I am on the board for the La Canada Flintridge float, and we have worked until 1 am the last two weeks with final preps and deco. Our float was the giant Mars Rover with the drone. We won the Innovators Award! I am also one of the "white suiters" tournament volunteers you see at the parade and post parade float viewing. I have been on my feet at the post parade 12 hours a day since the 1st, one final day today. I then assist moving our massive float from Pasadena High School this afternoon back to our float yard in La Canada. It has been exhausting but fun!

There are no cash prizes for the floats, just the prestige! I am with the La canada float and we won the innovators award for being the first EV float and flying a real quadcopter built by the team who built the Ingenuity drone!

This may sound weird but my mother watched the Rose bowl game and said that there was No announcer at all during the game. None. She said they didn't have the half time with a float or two featured either. She said a band all in black played music, but she didnt' know who they were?
I always loved watching the Rose Bowl game with the floats and fun commentary. I wonder if the station she watched was having trouble. I can't believe that everyone didn't have the audio?
Just wondering. BTW: She is 97 y/o and an avid football fan, both college and NFL

My DH had the game on. I didn’t watch (I was making and canning sauce) but could hear the audio from the kitchen, maybe she was having issues either her tv or accidentally muted it? I think the half time show was Kendrick Lamar

Thanks for responding. I was wondering if she punched a wrong button or something. It just seemed weird that they had no sound, and she would know. She is older but very with it

I just asked DH if they showed floats during half time but he said he called his aunt and didn’t watch the half time. Sorry I can’t help with that one. Remotes have so many buttons it’s easy to do!
