I see that many of you rent a car from mco (orlando airport) to port canaveral as it is cheaper than transfers. I am unable  to find the code to the port so I can price a rent a car one way to port then port to mco. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Sherry,
mousesavers had lots of codes. For us it was cheaper to rent the vehicle and park it at the port and return it to the airport. Sounds crazy, but it is true. AND we had the convenience of having the vehicle right there. We had 6 people and rented a van from National.
Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply. I asked the question wrong. I am looking for the drop off location of the port... or do I just pay to put the car in holding until we return?

So many questions, so little time!

Try entering "Cape Canaveral" for the drop-off city.

Is it really safe to keep a rented car at the terminal for the length of the cruise? I may be able to get a low rate, but fear that the car would be damaged or gone when we return. It wouldn't worry me as much if we were taking our own car, but I'd hate to get stuck having to BUY the rental if it got stolen. And opinions?

The code for Orlando is MCO. The code for Cape Canaveral is CC5. This is for Budget rentals. I know the first time we cruised it was really tricky trying to find the right abbreviations. I can't remember the code for Avis. Hope this helps.

Aisling - we are renting a car from budget at MCO and taking it to the budget center right near the Port to return it before the cruise. Budget has a shuttle going back and forth from the port daily. Florida car rental places don't charge one way fees. After the cruise we are catching the Budget shuttle back to rent a car to drive back to MCO. We are getting an intermediate size car for $33 so a total of $66 totals for before and after the cruise.

daisy, thanks for the information!

The port has a "secure" lot....It would not be impossible to have a car stolen, but pretty hard I would think. Besides, my car insurance covers the rental as well as it does my own car. We had no problems and I loved the convenience and the money savings of keeping the vehicle.

How big of a pain is it to get the the rental agency when you get off the ship?Do you lug all of your bags with you? We have DCL transfers all set up,but our return flight is not until 5:30 pm so I am thinking about renting a car and doing something for the day. I just don't want to deal with any hassles. I like my vacations to be stress free. Any suggestions?

We cruised the beginning of January '05 and used Budget for our rental car. We simply got off the ship, went through customs, and walked to where a Budget van was already waiting with another family that just got in the van. We walked up to the Budget line, the driver took our bags, DW and I got in the van and we headed for the Budget office. We were walking off the ship at 8:45 and we were driving out of the Budget parking lot with our rental car by 9:30. Couldn't have gone any smoother.

We were the only ones waiting for the budget van at the port. We were at Budget in a few minutes and was on the way to MCO in less than 30 minutes.

I have another budget rental set up for our upcoming cruise....

Use the code w852800 this will save about $5-$6 off the rental. We are doing a rental car from the airport to the Cape for our Feb cruise in two weeks for a total of $26.00. Much cheaper than another form of transportation out there. Plus we can stop along the way if we want to.
