With 2017 coming to a close and many of us reflecting upon the events of another year past what do you have in mind for the new year ahead?

I plan to finally get my butt in gear and lose the weight I have been complaining about for years. With my son turning 20 in february and my daughter about to graduate from high school I also plan to focus on myself a little more than I have for the last however many years.

I have some projects around the house that I plan to complete starting with finishing my kitchen. All I have left is new flooring and painting trim.

Professionally I am aiming to not let the little day to day things bother me as much as they seem to have been lately and I will use my vacation and personal days in 2018.

Like you, one of my goals for the year is to lose weight. I have a lot to lose so I’ll start small and go from there.

I also want to get a law passed regarding our child support system. It’s a joke the way it is and it needs to change. This one will be a challenge but I’m determined and not easily turned away.

Things for me are good, but I feel like I'm standing in dense fog, not sure at all about the direction my new year will take

I feel like our life is in a holding pattern right now in terms of planning ahead for the next year and will be for the next month or so. My husband has a pretty big job interview Mid Jan (rescheduled from two weeks ago) Depending on how that goes, there is the potential for a 1500 mile move. So, I’m just focusing on day to day right now and we will deal with everything else later.

I am starting a new job on Jan. 2nd, so I'm not quite sure in what direction this will go. Personally, I am going to get back on my eating/exercise plan and lose this last 20 pounds. I had gastric sleeve surgery in Sept. 2016 and was losing steadily until June. Then, summer set in and we did lots of traveling, and I stopped working out regularly. I've also been lazy about my eating habits. I've lost a lot of weight, and didn't gain any back, but I'm also not losing anymore. I need to get back to it; I didn't have body-altering surgery to go back to the old ways that made me so unhealthy!

I wanted to say, good for you on trying to get laws passed on child support. I had issues back in the day, don't know which law you are looking at however, I respect anyone who fights for what they believe is right.

My goal is, to get my daughter home from the skilled facility and to champion for those disabled.

Thank you. Right now, my ex is over $10000 behind in child support and nothing is happening to him. He has no repurcussions for being a deadbeat. He doesn’t file his taxes because he knows it will come to me. When he gets a job and Maintenance Enforcement (the government agency child support goes through) finds out he has a job to garnish his wages he just quite.

That’s the backstory..I’m going to try and get a law passed where he (and all other payers) have to file their taxes every year to take care of any late payments. I don’t know if it’s posaible or how I go about it (I’m thinking my Member of Parliament) so I’ll start there.

I see y'all's child support laws aren't much better than our's. Here it's like it's all over the board.

I know one guy that is about to be Dad again for 5th time. One child he never sees, one rarely and two when it's convenient for him. He pays $0 in child support. He either quits jobs as they find him or he works for cash. I want to scream at the child support agency--y'all do know he is eating every day, he doesn't live under the bridge! It's pretty obvious that he does in fact have money from somewhere

Otoh, DS has two precious little girls. He has them with him 75% of the time or more. He moved closer to his ex so this would be possible. He pays 50% of his income to child support. I am proud of him for doing everything in his power to take care of them and even making sure their mom has the meds she needs but it's frustrating to see him do without too.

The laws of child support will never make sense to me.

Back to topic-- my reflections going forward:

I hope in the new year to focus more on me and Dh and our home And on spending time with my precious grandchildren.

Sometimes it seems like time gets away from us so quickly. I want to give these kids some great memories of spending time at grandma and the strong sense of family that my kids have.

We need to make changes to our home as our family is changing and the needs of our home have changed. First thing up is a big dining room table. And making a space for it! The family room will become the new dining room and the living room/kids room will be more of an actual living room/family room. New furniture for the living room to have space for everyone at one time. Maybe a huge sectional?

And also health. I don't know if I will lose weight but I want to start getting exercise. Walking everyday is a good start.

The past 7 years we have had the worst (deaths) and best each year (weddings/births) for my immediate family members.

Having said that - 2018 looking forward to a few projects in the house, traveling and start planning my dd's wedding (Disney?) for 2019!!!!
