Hi-
I need some quick help please. Ashley Furniture is coming at 10:30 central time today to deliver a 5 piece living room set. Do I tip the guys? If so, how much? I was thinking $5, but I don't want to be cheap. I also don't want to give too much considering I already spent $2500 on this set.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Jen

I can honestly say we have never thought to tip furniture delivery guys.

It depends on what they do, I recently got a living room set from Raymour & Flannigan & I tipped $10. That was because they were polite, took their time, were very careful to pick up every little wrapper after they set it all up & took all the garbage with them. :goodvibes

I've never thought not to tip them - $5 - $10 each, depending upon how long it takes.

I do not tip. I'm already paying a lot for the furniture & most likely paying for delivery. In fact, I just had a dining room set delivered on Wednesday night and they were in and out of here so fast, no tip. Plus, they left a lot of garbage all over the floor and the chairs covered in the other room.

I'm having a computer armoire delivered today and do not plan on tipping. I'm already paying $65 for delivery.

The only time I ever tipped was when I asked them to move a couch out of the house to save me the work. 2 guys and I tipped them $20 for that. If they're coming to deliver and not doing anything beyond that, I don't tip.

We tip the furniture delivery guys $20, so they can buy lunch. Usually there are two guys who split the money.

Thank you so much for all of your advice! The furniture isn't here yet..........waiting very IMpatiently. I love getting new furniture. I just hope my 3 cats don't scratch the heck out of it. They have all their claws.....

Just had furniture delievered last week. I tipped each $20. They did a great job, cleaned up , didnt track in to much salt, moved it around when I changed my mind. It took about an hour.

Yes it is there job but I believe in rewarding people who do it well.

Well, if they are the same crew that delivered our ashley furniture, I would expect a tip from them.

They dropped a recliner on our hardwoods, dented our drywall, ripped the leather on a chair and then asked us to keep it and have someone come out to fix it. NOOO

I would make sure everything is perfect before they leave.

I have bought more stuff from them since but now I drive to the warehouse and pick it up.

We tipped the delivery men when they brought our living furniture = $25.00 because we live on the top/3rd floor and there are NO elevators. :thumbsup2

I paid for delivery so I did not tip. Our delivery guys did such a bad job I think they owe me money. They put a big scratch on our wood dining room floor. Their idea of making it better was to fill the scratch with a stain pen that did not match the color of the floor. The best I got was some money back from the store and I still have the scratch!

This is one of those thread titles I had to read twice. First time, I saw, "How much to tip furniture gays??" For a second, I had some odd images in my head.

$10/guy. Unless they are jerks, in which case they get nothing.

Ashley Furniture had a FREE DELIVERY sale going on, so I didn't pay a dime. Does that change anything for you?

If they do a great job and clean up after themselves I might tip them a little.

No. I think the $$ for delivery probably goes towards the gas in the truck...?....but I would still give the men a tip. ::yes::

I tipped the guys who delivered my new front loader washer and dryer $15.00 a piece... they moved out my old set and put them in the garage for me. They also made sure the new ones were put in "perfect" place! They were also very polite!
