We have never been big liqueur drinkers, but we received Bailey's, Grand Marnier and Amaretto liqueurs over Christmas and we just dying to try them!

So, my question...once these are opened do they have to be refrigerated? They almost look like they should be but then I can't open them because my fridge is jammed with Christmas leftovers. LOL.

Or, are they fine on the shelf?

I have no clue so please tell me, what do YOU do???

Thanks!

I'd keep the Bailey's in the fridge once it's opened, but the other stuff should be fine on the shelf. :)

mmmm...yummy. if you are looking for something different to do with the baileys, this is one of my favorite things. take a fresh baked brownie (can be cool or warm), top with vanilla ice cream, then pour some baileys over (like you would hot fudge if you were making a sundae). omg, soooo good! and if you aren't into drinking it straight could work better. a bit addicting, so be careful :)

Grand Marnier is my favorite drink. It's so good after a big meal. I don't refrigerate it, just keep it on the shelf. Enjoy!!

OMG that sounds so good.

Note to self: put brownie ingredients and vanilla ice cream on today's shopping list. LOL.

Do you know any other "recipes" to try with these liqueurs?? :cloud9:

I'm looking forward to trying this one as well. I don't think I have ever tried it before. Is this the one that has an orange sort of flavour??

Well if ya like sweet drinks, try mixing the Bailey's with some butterscotch schnapps (Buttershots comes to mind). Add a little bit of ice and - bottoms up! There is a name for this drink, only I can't post it ;)

OK - I have never refrigerated Bailey's. Really should I? I guess it has never made me sick, so I shouldn't worry about it. Well, I just looked at a bottle and it does not say refrigerate. However, it does say to store between 40 and 77 degrees or something to that effect, so storing it in the cabinet above my stove/oven probably isn't the best idea.

None of these liqueurs needs to be refrigerated -- not even the Bailey's, although cold Bailey's is quite nice. Pour it over ice.

Grand Marnier is indeed the orange flavoured one -- enjoy!

The fridge thing with the Bailey's is more of a preference thing. It's so nice to pour some of that cold Bailey's into a hot cup of coffee.... *yummy*

I always fridge my Bailey's. My Dad had two bottles "solidify" because they got too warm.

Grand Marnier is the key to the best margarita. It is really expensive, so lucky you! Enjoy.

Q. What is the shelflife of Baileys Original Irish Cream?

A. Baileys is the only cream liqueur that guarantees a totally natural product which delivers that unique, smooth Baileys taste for 24 months from the day it was made.

One of the keys to achieving this is the artful blending of fresh Irish cream and aged Irish whiskey - two products that are not normally compatible. This is achieved through a combination of art and science and without the use of additives or preservatives, which results in the alcohol acting as a natural preservative for the product. How we do this must remain one of the closely guarded secrets, which contribute to producing the world's favourite liqueur.

Baileys should be stored away from direct sunlight at temperature range of 5-35 degrees centigrade. You don't have to refrigerate your bottle, but we would recommend it - and it tastes even better when chilled! Fluctuating its temperature too much will cause it to go lumpy - so try and always keep it roughly at the same temperature. The storage conditions are the same for sealed or unopened bottles. If you are concerned about a bottle of Baileys - all bottles now carry a best before date - have you checked the best consumed before date on the bottle? If so, have you exceeded the date? If you cannot find a date on the bottle, have you had the bottle for longer than 24 months? You don't have to worry if you have - it is still fine to drink - it just won't taste as good as usual. We wouldn't recommend drinking it if it has gone lumpy or the mixture has separated though.

Baileys contains no preservatives or additives and so should be consumed within 6 months of opening the bottle.

actually all three of these are good in coffee, i'll be ha ving both irish and amaretto coffee later this week at friends new years party, she serves both each year:)

When I drink Amaretto (which is a rare occasion anymore) I just have it with some club soda and ice! I have a 10 year old bottle of Amaretto Di Saronno in my kitchen cupboard right now!

Enjoy!

Thanks Dan. I've been drinking Baileys for years and have never refridgerated it but its always downstairs (where its cooler) on the bar. Now that I've read this, I will put it in the fridge when we go to the lake (where its much warmer). :)

I bet the amaretto and coffee would be good, but with Grand Marnier, I only like it as an added part of different cocktails.

I do like Kahlua and coffe, as well as Frangelico and coffee (ok, I've also been known to drink Frangelico on the rocks. lol).

Man, all this talk about liquor makes me wanna go out and buy some. We hardly ever drink anymore, but it's nice to enjoy the coffee drinks when it's cold outside :)

Mmmm Baileys!! :) I don't keep mine in the fridge either, but when I use it, I have it over ice!! Yummy!!

Enjoy!

ok, here is what I make with the baileys....yummy....I pour a half mug of hot coffee, some baileys, kaluhua, and ginger brandy...I use crystal mugs so I take herseys choclate and pour it around the mug first...to make a pretty design, then the coffee, and the above mentioned. then top with whip cream and shavd chocolate!!! great when sick or cold!! :drinking1
