We are skipping our loosely planned trip for this year and are going to wait until mid-May of 2023. We've never been in May- anything in particular we should know??
We've been in August, October, and once in April ( many years ago)...
We could travel in June instead, but we're thinking it might be less crowded and a bit cooler.

We usually do our trips in mid august due to lower prices and lower crowds. this year we are going may 12-23 and though it will be hot, there will be much less rain so i am looking forward to that. we went back and forth a lot on the decision. we went in may around mother's day years ago, and had an amazing trip, but that doesn't mean anything now.

i believe may will definitely be better than june due to the weather and slightly lower crowds. it might be a little less expensive but need to confirm that. i can get back to you about how our mid may trip goes this year, but who knows if that will translate to a year from now!

i would say the earlier in may you can go, the better. it looks like every day that goes by during the month the crowds tick up. but again, everything is changing and old data might not be accurate.

We were at Disney in early May-2019 and enjoyed the weather. Warm but comfortable, not nearly as hot as July/August when we would never go. The various floral exhibits from the Flower & Garden festival were worth seeing but not a reason by itself to go there. Those lovebugs others talk about were around some of the time, but not really any big deal. They don't bite or string so really more of a nuisance. I assume Disney must spray the parks since even when we saw those bugs at our hotel, we never saw any at the parks. Some of the weekdays certain parks were really crowded but I think that is true most of the year since so many people go to Disney.

Thanks I'd love to hear your thoughts later....We are planning to go within a day or two of kids finishing school...

We've seen them at other times....lovebugs big in May? They were a big problem one trip- tons at the pools, but I can't remember which month.

I'm going in May as well. The last full week before memorial day. Does it get cool at night in the parks? I've never been to Florida in May.

We were there in early May 2019 and this was the worst I've ever seen them. The most they bothered us was on boats...this was my first time on the Liberty Belle and that was a big mistake because they were everywhere!I also recall being annoyed by them on the WL to MK boat. Other than that, they were a mild nuisance.

Not sure when the OP is going, but early May is lovely. The crowds weren't too bad and the F & G fest is still going on. Yes, it will be hot, but not unbearable.

We have gone several times in May. Low crowds, hot weather (but not rainy or as humid), love bug swarms. It was never cool at night for us.

May and late September are my favorites.

The first couple weeks in May can be hot but not horrendously hot, like July or August. Or even June.

We often go in May and we've encountered everything from very hot to pleasantly cool. In fact, last year the week we were there was amazingly cool and breezy.

And, btw, we ere there the first week this month and it was HOT. Hotter than I've experienced it in May.

It can be cool in the evenings but it can also be hot. Depends. I always have a light sweater in my bag, in case.

We've gone in August the past few trips so I'm looking forward to May weather. Its got to be better, right?

Love our May trips. We now book our DVC trips in late Jan, early May, late Sept and early Dec.

Weather is tolerable in May, and we can do the water parks/resort pool without fear of freezing.

I figured it would be warm but not like late summer hot. I guess I'll bring a jacket regardless. I found in my research it's you need to be prepared for anything at Disney! Lol

Our last trip was in May pre-covid and our upcoming trip is May again. Obviously we enjoyed ourselves 😂 crowds were manageable and the weather was perfect. The mornings were a little cooler (not COLD by any means, just not sweltering) and there were one or two evenings I needed a light sweatshirt. Midafternoon was hot Florida weather which is exactly what I want, so that swimming is comfortable. We were there right on the tail end of the lovebugs that year but we didn't find it to be an issue.
