If you were diagnosed with Pre-E during your pregnancy, how early did you deliver?

A couple weeks ago, at my routine OB check-up, my blood pressure was really high, and it just kept going up each time they checked it, and my protein was +1. They sent me over to the hospital for a non-stress test, and while baby was fine, my BP just kept rising. They told me that, had I been 36-weeks, they would have taken the baby that night. :scared:

My doctor OK'd me going home, and ordered bedrest, but two days later, at another non-stress test, my BP was higher than ever. They tested me sitting and standing and laying on my left, and it ALWAYS went down to normal when I laid on my left. They OK'd me going home again, but ordered more bedrest.

I did bedrest for a week, and my BP was normal at my check-up yesterday. Today, it is back up again. :sad2:

I'm just so worried that they could take the baby at any moment, as I am juuust shy of 35 weeks.

It's a little scary I know...But I think your baby will be fine at 35 weeks.

I had EXTREAMLY high BP when I was pregnant. Although I never had protein in my urine I was on one BP medication and a blood thinner. They took my twins at 37 weeks, which is full term for twins I hear.

I will send prayers you way to help ease your uneasiness(um?:lmao:) and also that you and your little angel have a great delivery!

I had a severe form called HELLP. It went "downhill" very fast. I was delivered at 29 weeks. My dd is a perfectly healthy 12 yo now. Drink lots & lots of water, do what your doctor says, and if you start feeling "weird" or have any pains, be sure to call your dr.

It's a scary time, but at 35 weeks, you & your baby should be just fine. :grouphug:

My twins came at 34 weeks due to pre-e. I am now pg again and at 22 weeks my bp is already very labile. I take a beta blocker as needed, but my bp always goes to normal when laying down so for now I am taking it easy and going in every 2 weeks for bp/urine checks with growth u/s at a perinatologist every 4 weeks. Beginning in week 32 I will go twice a week for bpp and nst.

I was diagnosed with Pre-E at 36 weeks (had huge cankles to show for it), bedrest didn't go so well since I am the worlds' antsiest human being, so was induced at 37 weeks.....so really for me, not much of a worry for my DD. I also only had 1 week to fret about it

She was still 7lbs 6oz. Your baby isn't very early, deep breath. I wish you the best.

I was diagnosed and delivered the same day-at 37 weeks. They said they would have delivered me that day regardless of how far along I was because my blood pressure was super dangerously high (like 210/115). Fortunately they were able to avoid a c-section although they warned me that with any sign of baby not tolerating labor it would have been c-section for me immediately.

After that scary experience I was so nervous throughout my second pregnancy and guess what? I never developed pre-e and had my baby naturally (no induction) at 38 weeks :)

My SIL delivered at about 34 weeks, and I have a friend who just delivered at 36 weeks.

I know that it's not easy, but you're pretty far along. Even if you had to deliver today, the chances are great that everything would be fine.

Not due to pre-e, but a friend of mine just delivered twins a couple of weeks ago at 34w 2d, and they're already home. DH's cousin's wife delivered their youngest at 26 weeks and she is fine now.

I wanted to add that although my twins were born at 34w3d they came home with me from the hospital...completely mature lungs! Today they are very healthy 7 year olds.

Thanks, everyone!

I know, I know... 35 weeks isn't THAT early, but when I think that I still have FIVE weeks to go, it makes it FEEL really long. I'd hate for her to have to spend any time in the NICU because of me. :sad1:

It is good to hear that everyone has GOOD stories to tell! :thumbsup2

Please don't worry. My DS8 was born at 34 weeks and did not need any intervention at all. He was out of the NICU in 24 hours and out of the hospital in 3 days. I know that sounds early, but usually girls do even better than boys. Good luck!

I don't have any experience with this, but I wanted to send good thoughts out to you. Looking forward to hearing all went well & your little one is healthy & you couldn't be happier.

You know, it is so funny. My DH tries to reassure me... this little girl has a steady heart rate of 160-170, gets the hiccups about 5 times a day, and wiggles around like crazy. He "insists" she is fully baked in there and is ready to come out screaming! :rotfl: My doctor, obviously, tells me, "You still have a long time." :sad2:

I was induced with DD(now 15 years old) at 36 weeks, and she was 7 pounds even.

No problems, no complications, and no pre-e with either one of my other two DDs.

Sending prayers and pixie dust your way. Everything is going to be fine!

If it's bad enough they will not wait no matter what. Just rest as much as possible and follow their advice.

My DD was born at exactly 37 weeks due to severe pre-eclampsia. My kidneys were failing, I was having black voids in my vision and my BP was so high the DR at my last visit was calling an ambulance to come get me until I told him my husband was outside the room and could take me. I was told to go right to the hospital immediately without stopping anywhere on the way... My BP was REALLY high but was stable as long as I was perfectly still. They induced me after monitoring me for 36 hours hoping it would improve but I just got worse. I had to lay flat on my back as still as possible through it all and was connected to so many things I couldn't move even if I wanted to. LMAO!

Just remember that full term is 37 weeks so while it seems you are 5 weeks away, you are close than you think. Rest, relax, don't add to the stress your body is under and see what happens.

((((HUGS)))) I know how scary that can be! with my first I was diagnosed with PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension, which means I had elevated blood pressure, but no other pre-e signs) when I was around 33 weeks. they did give me steroids and put me on bedrest and I had to monitor my bp with a home cuff I got at cvs (very easy to use) and they had me on 2x per week dr appts. I was vigilant about the bedrest (was allowed to go to the couch, but once there stayed there until bedtime when I went to bed). I delivered him just shy of 40 weeks, ended up being induced because she didn't want me going longer than my due date.

my second pregnancy was a twin pregnancy and I ended up with pre-e. bp elevated by 27 weeks and I was on bedrest once again, and like the first time in and out of the hospital for monitoring, and self monitored while at home. by 34 weeks my pressure was up enough that he wanted me in the hospital for the duration. again, I had steroids. unfortunately unlike my last pregnancy, instead of my bp going down when I lay down, it stayed high. I delivered at 34w6d. thankfully the steroids, and the fact that they were twins, helped and my twins did not need any nicu time.

my best advice is to LAY DOWN. just keep doing it, even though it is really frustrating and boring and gets old very quick. I'm sad that I never got to set up my kids nurseries, never really got to "nest", but am so happy I delivered healthy kids that I got as far as I knew I could.

good luck!!!!!!!

I was diagnosed at 36 weeks. Who knows.. maybe I had it sooner? Went straight to the hospital and had a stroke and seizure that evening.

My 2nd pregnancy was 4 years later. No problems at all. Even went over my due date by 2 weeks.

I also had HELLP. I was at 23 weeks and I was induced. My daughter didn't survive, and I barely did. Call your doctor immediately if you start feeling weird.

At 35 weeks, I'm sure the baby will be fine.

I've had pre-eclampsia three times (every time I have been pregnant). With my oldest I was put on "partial" bedrest for several weeks and full bedrest (laying on left side) for one week. She was born right at 36 weeks at a little over 5lbs and perfectly healthy.

With my second child I was on bedrest for two weeks and delivered at 37 weeks. Our last child was born at almost 40 weeks after 6 weeks of bedrest.

We were very fortunate each time that our kids were born healthy. After the last baby, the Dr. told me that he was concerned that I could have permanent damage to my heart and liver and recommended that we not risk another pregnancy.

Good luck! You are almost there! I know how tough bedrest is, but try to stick it out for as long as possible. My "fully cooked" baby was so much easier than my early babies (less reflux, could eat more and stay full longer, slept better, etc.).

I had pre-eclampsia with my first son. I was diagnosed at 35 weeks, they did all the tests (checking urine for protein, bio-physical profile, sonograms like crazy) and put me on bedrest. Nothing worked and I was induced at 36 and a half weeks. I had a c-section and he was fine (huge at 8lbs 14oz). Today he is a smart healthy 5 year old. With my second I didn't have any complications except that she decided to come at 35 and a half weeks! My mother was so worried that I would gain too much weight and had me walking 2 miles a day until the day before my daughter was born, I literally walked myself into early labor! My little girl was also fine (6lbs 14oz), she spent a week in the NICU (she really loved her oxygen) she is a healthy 3 year old. My third pregnancy had my BP all over the place but thankfully no pre-eclampsia and he was the most normal controlled delivery out of all of them! I was so used to my babies coming early I was disappointed that he was on time!
I don't normally post but I remember how scared I was when the doctor said pre-eclampsia and all I could think of was an ER episode! So I just wanted to share my experience and hopefully put your mind at ease. Just pay attention to your body, drink a lot of water and remember when the time comes you'll be in the most controlled environment you can be in. Good Luck!

I was diagnosed at 25 weeks and delivered at 35 weeks. Take your bedrest seriously. I ended up with pre-e and hellp syndrome so it lead to five days in the hospital but no lasting effects. Good luck
