Post Your Wedding Cake

Has anyone asked, or have any idea what a cake like the large display cake at this year's showcase would cost? The all white one with rounded edges and the cake topper that looks like a spray coming out the top?:confused3

Cakes are partially priced by how many people they feed but also by how much work it would take to create the designs. I looked through Disney's standard cake designs, and none of them have that level of detail combined with shaped layers, so it's hard to say. But the most elaborate ones range from $3,000 to $5,000.

thanks for the info lurkyloo!.. I would have figured in the thousands, but I didn't realize their cakes went up to $5000! (I know there have been some crazy over the top few even higher). Do you have more info on general cake ideas/pricing etc etc??

Do I ever! If by "general" you mean non-wedding, check out the DIS Boards' Cake Chatter thread for tons of ideas and info.

For wedding cakes, I have a page here where you can download the latest Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings Cake Photo doc and corresponding Cake Pricing sheet (cuz the DIS won't let us post PDFs). Click HERE!

Thanks... that chart is super helpful. I don't know how I missed that considering I do think I've read everyone of your trip reports lol. Just a few questions to make sure I am interpreting the chart correctly. The first column is the number of people that the cake in the picture would feed? I am a little confused on how the price of the floral factors in... is the number listed an additional price per guest? i.e. you add it to the pp price as pictured and then multiply times the guest count or minimum number of guests for that cake? thanks again!

That is really confusing, isn't it? The way I read it, the sugar/fresh floral prices are per person, INSTEAD of the "pp [per person] price as pictured" so that you can see how much cheaper the cake would be if you had fresh floral on it instead of sugar floral (though you then have to pay extra to the floral department for the flowers).

For example, if you get the Castle in the Clouds cake with sugar floral, it's $12.50 pp, but if you get fresh floral, the price of the cake drops to $8.50 pp. But since the bakery doesn't control the price of those flowers, just the cake, Disney Floral and Gifts would then charge you $X for the flowers that went on the cake.

Does that make sense?

Have a couple of questions that I don't think I've seen answered/asked previously in this thread.

1) Will they make the Elegant Scrolls cake in colors other than white?
2) Can you get the Aurora cake with fewer tiers than pictured? Can you get it in different colors than what is pictured?
3) I'm interested in having a small cake with cupcakes for serving (rather than a sheet cake), but I don't see any info on pricing or options for cupcakes? Is it even a possibility?

Thanks so much!

Also, will they do a single tier Mad Hatter?

If you are having a Wishes event, the cake is completely customizable. You can also send in a photo or a drawing or have them create something from scratch. So the answer to all of your questions is yes. Disney's cupcake prices seem to range from about $5-$9 each, depending on the complexity of their decoration.

We are planning on a Wishes wedding (sorry I forgot to mention that ;) ). We can't start talking to DFTW til August 1st, so thanks for getting back to me lurkyloo! And btw, I am LOVING your e-Book for WDW. The level of detail makes my brain happy. :)

For DISers who don't frequent the Official Cake Chatter Thread, here are the wedding cakes and cupcakes from Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings' 2014 Bridal Showcase...

This first one is the photo-mapping projection cake they're renting for $2,900. It has three designs or you can customize it with your own photos. You get a 5-tier fake cake that's projected on 2 sides from a giant gift box. If you want real, edible cake, you buy that separately. Even the castle cake topper is sold separately. This cake counts toward the Wishes Collection enhancement minimums.

Here are the minicakes they had on display at this year's showcase. It felt like there were fewer, or maybe just not as many elaborate cupcakes and mini cakes as last time...?

Thanks for those posts, Lurkyloo. :) I hadn't gotten a chance (other than your blog post) to see a lot of these cakes The mini cakes are adorable, and I'm just dying over that "Alice in Wonderland" one. It's so cute, with all of its little details (like the Cheshire Cat smile and Alice butt-up into the rabbit hole.

I have been obsessing over ways to help Disney make my wedding cake perfect (there are some color issues I'm concerned about)...and because the cake is really one of my favorite parts of a wedding, I looked through this thread in its entirety last night. I thought it needed some additional love, as it's fallen to the bottom of the pile of old threads.

I would LOVE to encourage more recent brides to post pictures of their cakes. They are my wedding porn.

Wow ive just looked through this whole thread and love it!! :) some great inspiration!!

I was just wondering, when my finacee and i go there is only going to be 6 of us in total so I guess a two tier cake will be too big haha but we will still want a wedding cake.
Does anyone know how many a 1 tier mad hatter cake would feed and the cost??

Thanks!
