POR fishing hole

I read there's a fishing hole at Port Orleans Resort? Can anyone go there? Do they rent fishing rods? My ds 7 would love to do that when we're at OKW in Aug.

Yes, there is a fishing hole at POR. I have never been there but from what I understand there are cane poles for rent at a reasonable rate. It is fun times for the little ones as the hole is pretty well stocked according those who have been there. Any Disney resort guest may go there.

We did this a few years ago. DH and I took his niece and nephew cane pole fishing. It was a lot of fun. The fish are primarily blue gill and could be seen swimming about below. The pole rental was ~$5 ea and I think included the bait, chopped up hotdogs. The fishing hole is located near Old Man Island, past the swimming pool on the AB side. We went mid morning so that we had the rest of the day available to play in the parks. HTH.

My DH took our kids a couple of times in the early morning. They really had lots of fun. Yes, they use the cane poles and bait is provided. They were back around 9 or 9:30am and then we went to the parks. It is catch and release.

A very odd story that my son told me about 5 yrs later. He was 10 at the time. He caught a catfish and it was a beauty. My DH took a picture and then released him into the water. My son said he was probably thinking "Yippee, freedom again!!". Just before the fish hit the water, a seagull swooped down, grabbed him and flew off with his dinner. Sad for the poor fish but I guess everything has to eat.

Dh and DD did this last year. Check your times as I recall it closed after 2 or 3pm. They had fun but didnt catch anything. The fish kinda just looked at their bait and swam around it.

Wow, HOT DOGS! You're so lucky. When we went about 3 years ago, it was worms. My oldest daughter was 10 at the time and there was NO way she was going to touch the worms, so I had to do it. It was by far one of the grossest things I've ever done. But it's still one of my daughter's fondest Disney memories. And watching her catch a fish on a cane pole from a worm is one of my best memories too!
