points use question

As always, I can never figure out when I can use my points. Use year is October. can I book a room now using my 2021 points and borrow from 2022 for a vacation in December 2021 or do I have to wait until October to book?

Use year is when you use the pts for a stay. It has nothing to do with booking windows.

Oct UY starts Oct 1 and ends the next Sept 30. A Dec 2021 stay falls in your Oct 2021 UY, so you can use current 2021 UY pts + banked 2020 UY pts (if any) + borrowed 2022 UY pts.

You can book your home resort 11 months out. You will find that 11 months from Dec 2021 is Jan 2021 no matter what use year someone might have...

Think of UY like a Fiscal Year. Disney's fiscal year is Oct to Oct. So your UY is Feb to Feb. Or 2/1/21 to 1/31/22 for the upcoming UY starting on Feb 1.
