I don't have an answer to your question, but just want to say you might want to call him Pistol Pete or something else since Pete the Cat is a fairly popular line of children books that is not affiliated with Disney. Just to avoid confusion![]()
My 6yo daughter loves the Pete the cat books and I jumped in this thread thinking it might be about thoseI don't have an answer to your question, but just want to say you might want to call him Pistol Pete or something else since Pete the Cat is a fairly popular line of children books that is not affiliated with Disney. Also, as this is your first message let me welcome you to Disboards! (even if you have been lurking around for a while)
He's been around longer than even Donald and Goofy and is still in new shows that are being released.
Wow, I never knew Pete was a cat! I always thought he was a dog-like character like Goofy. I'm just stunned. I felt this couldn't be true, but Wikipedia says, "He was originally an anthropomorphic bear but with the advent of Mickey Mouse in 1928, he was defined as a cat." I guess it makes sense that the foil for a mouse would be a cat. I mean, he was in Goof Troop and I guess PJ and the rest of the family are cats too.
He doesn't really look like a cat, though the ears could be cat-like, though dogs can have them too. Man, I think I'm going to lose some Disney nerd-cred over this.
I didn't realize it until last year watching Mickey Mouse clubhouse. In one episode Pete sings a song that includes the line "I am a pretty kitty". Mind blown.
Sorry, he says "I am a CLEVER kitty and I like things that are pretty" the song is at 9m30s"I am a pretty kitty"? That line alone is so very un-Pete-like!

My daughter got to meet him a couple years back when the author(s?) visited the local college:I was so confused. As a teacher, I know Pete the Cat. I know he is not Disney.. But I still wanted to meet him..
