Quick Question, my daughter LOVES Pete the Cat from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and we are planning our first trip in several years. Does Pete make any in park appearances?

I don't have an answer to your question, but just want to say you might want to call him Pistol Pete or something else since Pete the Cat is a fairly popular line of children books that is not affiliated with Disney. Just to avoid confusion ;)

Also, as this is your first message let me welcome you to Disboards! (even if you have been lurking around for a while)

Not as a meet and greet, but there is Pete signage and you can hear his voice at Pete's Silly Sideshow in Magic Kingdom.

He also has a large role in the PIXAR film "Get a Horse" which is playing at the theater in the Imagination Pavilion. :) -Amanda

Was confused for a second. My DD just started reading those books lol

My 6yo daughter loves the Pete the cat books and I jumped in this thread thinking it might be about those:rolleyes:

I was just talking to DW about this a couple days ago. Has there EVER been a Pete M&G?
If not it's kind of sad. He's been around longer than even Donald and Goofy and is still in new shows that are being released. It's hard to think of a more ubiquitous character. Where's the suggestion box?

And Mickey...and Oswald...

Unfortunately, despite Pete/Pegleg Pete/Black Pete being (perhaps) the oldest Disney character still in use, I don't think he's ever appeared in the parks. Pete's design appeared in Walt's Alice shorts (and then in his Oswald shorts) before he become the first and main antagonist for Mickey, starting with Steamboat Willie.

Wow, I never knew Pete was a cat! I always thought he was a dog-like character like Goofy. I'm just stunned. I felt this couldn't be true, but Wikipedia says, "He was originally an anthropomorphic bear but with the advent of Mickey Mouse in 1928, he was defined as a cat." I guess it makes sense that the foil for a mouse would be a cat. I mean, he was in Goof Troop and I guess PJ and the rest of the family are cats too.

He doesn't really look like a cat, though the ears could be cat-like, though dogs can have them too. Man, I think I'm going to lose some Disney nerd-cred over this.

I didn't realize it until last year watching Mickey Mouse clubhouse. In one episode Pete sings a song that includes the line "I am a pretty kitty". Mind blown.

"I am a pretty kitty"? That line alone is so very un-Pete-like!

I always saw Pete as the Disney equivalent of Bluto/Brutus from Popeye. MMCH has really made him into a sweetheart lol.

I think it was on the bus ride from MCO to our hotel that they played a short where Mickey tries to sneak Pluto on a train where Pete is the conductor. When he finds Pluto he screams like a cat and looks much more cat-like when he does.

I was so confused. As a teacher, I know Pete the Cat. I know he is not Disney.. But I still wanted to meet him..
My daughter got to meet him a couple years back when the author(s?) visited the local college:

If Pete is a :cat:, then Pluto is a :squirrel:...

Yes, the only "appearance" I'm aware of that Pete (whatever he is) has is in Pixar short films. I agree, I like him, I'd like to see more of him in the parks. We should start a Pete movement...
