Panicked...almost 60 days prior to vacation...problems...

I put our first WDW vacation thoughts out of my mind because there were several family health issues that I am not sure would work out with the timing of our vacation. One issue is that my father is having chemo treatments, and I am taking him once a week - sometimes we've had to go to the ER due to side effects, so I have to be here for that, however, his chemo is supposed to end by the end of August, and they have scheduled him for surgery on September 4th. My husband has a shoulder injury (bicep muscle is torn in half vertically) and has been in therapy, but the second specialist he's seen told him that they have been doing the exercises wrong.....so he's not improving.....and they may want to do surgery - if they do, his recovery time would run over our vacation time, and we'd have to cancel our vacation. I'm panicked, as there are several other things going on in our lives, and I have no idea what to do. Hubby says to go on and pay for our room, as well, as plan our vacation out. I have just a few days to decide what 60 day res's I'm going to make....I don't know what else I should be doing, as I had just about given up on going all together. Any tips, suggestions???? What do you planner type people do at this point???? Thanks!

I hope everything works out well for you and your family!

Personally, I wouldn't worry about getting reservations for anything right now. We always go that time of year and have never had a problem getting into a restaurant or show we've wanted. It may be a little more difficult b/c of FTP's but it is still the off-season. Of course there are exceptions, like CRT.

If this is your first trip (of hopefully many more), please remember that there is no way you can do everything Disney offers. Don't stress yourself out any more! :D If you "go with the flow", you may be pleasantly surprised. You may find fun things to do that you ordinarily wouldn't have done if you had every moment planned out.

Sorry to hear of all the troubles. Hopefully it won't interfere with your plans.

There isn't really anything you need to do at this point. Hotel reservations can usually be cancelled up to the day of or day before depending on the hotel. No need to decide now if you are going or not.

Personally, we don't plan anything in advance as far as meals are concerned. As long as you are going offseason, its not hard to get in anywhere (except maybe Royal Table).

I would just wait and see what happens and hope for the best.

Soory, too. Hope things get better for you.
We just planned the FTp deal a couple days beforre it expired for a trip a few weeks out and even yesterday I called and got a couple PSs no problem. There are probbaly only a few that might be a bit harder. Sci-Fi I had to atek a time during the parade. Don't stress yourself out planning. I think you can wait on the meals and still get in fine. Good luck!

sorry to hear about what is going on in your life now.... First off, your husband's shoulder..... I had Rotator Cuff surgery & went to Dsiney 6 weeks after surgery. I was still in a sling & still needing threapy. I enjoyed myself to a point. There were many rides that I could not go on because it "jogged" my shoulder too much. There were also many rides that I was able to go on. I couldn't swim, that didn't bother me much. The therapist had reccommended some exercises that I was able to do while waiting on lines for rides.... I did them every chance I got. Did my exercises at night in the room & then iced my shoulder down.
As far as your Dad with Chemo, I am also going thru a simular situation now. I booked thru Priceline (cannot change it) for 7/20-7/27. After my stay, I had planned on going to my Mom's for a few days before going home. She lives an hour from Disney. She has a history of cancer & has been fighting it on & off for 4 years now. When I planned my trip every thing was fine. She went on 7/2 for her check up scans and got the results back on 7/8. Cancer is back in her lungs! She started Chemo last week & isn't feeling up to having us stay with her. We are going to visit only for the day & then head back to the hotel. I am torn on heading home..... I wanted to go back to her house & stay but her & my sister are saying that we shouldn't. They are afraid of her cell counts droping and being around germs......I would have a total of 5 kids with me at her house....anyway... what I am trying to say is, I feel for what you are going thru.... I would make my ressies and take one day at a time. As long as you book where you CAN cancel 5 days prior.... do it...........don't worry about booking PS for meals. You could alway wing that & do a walk up. Most of the resturants have that . I have never had a problem doing that... just can't do it for CRT.
