Origins of the waitlist process

I’m interested in the waitlist process and whether it was around from the start or something that was added as DVC got bigger and harder to book. Has there always been a limit of 2 at once? (That limit is so annoying and while I totally understand it’s probably necessary it is hard when you only visit once every year or two for longer trips and try to piece together availability or trying new resorts).

Any long term or original owners with some knowledge to share?

The limit was different before but I don't remember what it was. IMO waitlists and transferring are treated the same. It's available but DVC doesn't want you to use it. They don't make it easy and they don't fully support it through the website.

I don’t know if they were around from the start but it seems that after they were introduced there wasn’t any limits. Then come 2/1-2009 and the current limitations began allowing only two waitlists.
