Black bottom goodies are dessert - the recipe is from Southern Living.

Black-bottom Goodies
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespool vinegar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 - 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
1 egg
1/2 cup sugar
1/8 teapoon salt
1 6-oz package semisweet chocolate mini-morsels

Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl; make a well in center of mixture. Combine water, oil, vinegar and vanilla; add to dry ingredients, stirring well. Spoon batter into paper-lined mini muffin pans, filling two-thirds full.

Combine cream cheese and next 3 ingredients, stirring well. Stir in chocolate morsels. Spoon about 1 teaspoon cream cheese mixture over chocolate batter in each muffin cup.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Yields 5 dozen

thank you! they sound very delicious!

Just a side note---My DSIL gave me a recipe using a choc. mix and the same filling recipe. We frost ours with fudge frosting and bake them in foil liners so they come out easier. When I take them somewhere I always mark them cheesecake filled cupcakes, so people will know they are special and not just choc. cupcakes. They freeze well.
