Hi all,

My husband and I have sailed on Royal before (Freedom and Adventure of the Seas). We have done Disney with my kids and my parents in Concierge. We just got off of a Norwegian cruise in the Haven. It was fun but not enough for the kids and not enough entertainment. We are looking at Oasis of the Seas for June 2025. For those of you who have sailed on an Oasis class ship is there a fair amount for a 14 year old and 8 year old? We are looking at doing sky class in a one bedroom. Thanks all. I appreciate all advice.

Sailed on Allure and Harmony, but not with a teen (although I just did Regal Princess with 2 teens). I also don't sail concierge, so take that into account.

Kids will have a lot to do on the ships. On the pool deck, the kids quadrant provides quite a bit of fun. Your teen might want to check out the other pools, but your 8yo will probably love this area. And I believe there are waterslides now.

Teen clubs on cruise ships are really hit or miss - if your teen is able to make friends the first day you might never see them again. If they don't, they might hang around with you or complain that there's "nothing to do" the entire cruise. Regardless, the Oasis class teen clubs seem pretty big.

I think the Adventure Ocean on Oasis has switched to a DCL-like freeform (read: Chaotic) style versus the day camp style on other ships. Again, your little one will figure out if they like it or not.

Zip line is fun, but I'm not sure how many times one can do that. Ditto for the purple slide, the carousel, flow rider and climbing wall.

I like the ice skating on the ship, even though it's something I can do in my neck of the woods (Toronto). Not everyone's cup of tea though.

So quite a bit to do. Will the kids do these things? Honestly, you never know until they get on board.

So much for teens and pre-teens....rock wall, swimming, waterslides, mini golf, zip line, dry slide from deck 16 to 6, sports court with various scheduled games, Boardwalk fun (games and I think they have a climbing thing for your younger one), merry go round, parades (I think on Oasis...we just had one on Wonder which is similar class), scheduled activities in the cruise planner (e.g. scavenger hunts, trivia and games, dances), silent disco (usually a family friendly version), ice skating, laser tag, evening shows (aqua show, ice show, usually includes headliner such as a juggler/comedian/ventriloquist, etc - depends on who they get for your cruise). You can't get more kid friendly than Oasis class.

Can't speak for what a teen will like, but we were on Oasis with my DS (8) and DD (6), and they both loved it! They did a few sessions with the youth camp, but we also spent a lot of time at the pool, which they loved. And my son loved the Abyss!

Yes! Oasis class ships will have lots of stuff for your 14 and 8 year old. Oasis class is my favorite RCCL class of ship.

There is a LOT to do for kids who want to be active. Flowrider, rock climbing, mini golf, various sports (pickleball, soccer, basketball, dodgeball) on the sports court, ping pong tables, ice skating, pools, dry slides, and water slides are all "active" items.

Parades, shows, singers, trivia, and karaoke all come to mind as "passive" items.

Especially if your 14yo is outgoing (doesn't have to be), make sure they attend the teen "welcome party" (whatever it's called) the evening of Day 1. We just got off Harmony, and every time I walked by the teen club, there were a bunch of teens inside. Whether they were playing video games or just hanging out, it provides a place for them. They also had organized events for the teens.

I am looking at options similarly. We go on cruises for dedicated/offline family time. We know that we only have a few good years left before they really begin to have their own life, so we are all in- doing all the fun things but together. We don't let the tweens go off on their own but feel like there is enough to do and keep them busy without going to the clubs.

we were just on the Oasis (out of barcelona) with 10 of us, including 3 kids ages 7 to 11.
OMG there is so much on that ship to do.
Our major problem was not having enough time to do everything.

Here's what my grandkids did over the course of the 7 night cruise.
- first of all, they LOVED the shows especially Aqua 80 (the water show) and the Ice show, but they loved all 4. (all free)
- they did the rock climbing wall 3 times (royal provides the climbing shoes, you need to bring socks) (free)
- they loved laser tag and wanted to do it again, but we couldn't get another time (you need closed shoes for this one i think) (free)
- they loved ice skating....royal provides the skates, you bring long pants and socks.....(free)
- they liked the dry slide (abyss) and did it 4 times on different days (free)
- they liked the zip line (free)
- they loved the flow rider and did it 3 times (free)
- they liked the mini-golf and did it 3 times (free)
- they loved the 3 big water slides and did them 9 times each!!!! (on a port day when we didn't get off the ship) (free)
- they loved the kids splash area (for your 8 year old), which also has a nice water slide....they did that water slide a zillion times (free)
- they enjoyed quite a few of the games, including one that they did on another royal ship where you go around and get crew to sign your page saying where they're from. Sounds stupid, but the kids and adults love this game that lasts several days. We came in second so we're kind of competitive.
- as for games, trivia and the like, they're going on all the time. We're very much a quiz/trivia kind of family, so we go to a lot of them (of course they're free)
- and of course, there's the kids areas, which my grandkids didn't spend that much time in though they loved the puppet theater show (they went twice and it was free of course)
- oh and that little carousel on the boardwalk? We all loved it. We must have ridden that thing at least 20 times. also Free
- and there are 3 nice sized swimming pools which the kids really enjoyed. We mostly swam in the sports pool, but you can swim in any of them. And they're big enough and deep enough for real swimming. All 3 of them. ON two of the port days when we didn't get off the ship, the kids (and us the grandparents) swam in the pool for 4 hours each time. We had it to ourselves!!!!

Anyway, that's just the tip of the iceberg on Oasis. A fantastic and super fun ship for all ages!!!!

and to make it clear how much we love the Oasis class ships, next year allure is going out of barcelona and i've already booked 4 rooms for us. Woo hoo!! Can't wait!!!
