It's been a while since Fort Wilderness Campground was included in a Disney special offer. No discounts on campsites? No AP discounts?? All campsites are rack rate. I'll keep going to the campground but not the parks. We let our AP expire a couple of years ago and since we no longer get a FW resort discount I might never renew. Just venting and wishing...

Are the amenities and prices comparable to nearby campgrounds?
Just wondering.

Not sure where you saw discounts. I been going to to FW since 2010 and not once every find any deals, discounts, or packages for campsites. Even in 2023 when I felt like we had at most 10 rigs in the 600 loops I saw nothing and expected nothing. -shrug- Maybe I just never looked in the right places.

prices comparable at nearby-depends where you go, but the Fort is generally higher priced

Amenities-free transportation to the parks and springs, free fireworks nightly at beach, the electric water pageant, campground sing along, nightly movies, onsite restaurant, 2 camp stores, for fee you can get golf cart rental, bike rental, canoe rental, horseback riding plus, its the Fort, I'm sure I'm missing some, to me its worth it

The Fort campsites are not included in most discount offerings Disney runs during the course of the year, @ScarletFire, that are aimed at the general public. IMO that's because the occupancy level runs pretty high on average. The only discount that usually comes around is in August-September and has been good for 15% but the summer heat and humidity can be rough.

The cabins (pre-DVC) used to be covered in discount offers during to the GP though.

Occasionally, the campsites will be included for Florida residents, AP holders, but those are "as-needed". A lot of times you can get weeknights (Sun-Thur) with those but the Fort is pretty popular with locals on weekends (non-summer) with weekends booked well in advance (Fri-Sat) so hard to get discounts on those weekends of any kind.

Sorry. WDW since about 1977 has built THOUSANDS more hotel (& time share) accommodations to cover the increased demand but added only 30 or so campsites (extension of loop 600 up towards the Meadow TP) in that same time frame (which doesn't cover the increased demand).

Out of curiosity, what dates/timeframe were you looking for?

PS - I used to be bummed that us campers never received a discounted "bounce back" offer while staying at the Fort like I hear guests often do while at the hotels. But I realize now that it is what it is.

What @bama_ed said.

We've 'only' been to the Fort 4 times starting in 2015 but in all of my pretty much constant pre- and post-reserving checking on the WDTC website for 'deals', I've seen maybe two offers in that (now) almost 10 year period that included the Fort. I called on one that fell within our dates and it didn't change our total. We book packages though so maybe we'd already gotten some sort of reduced rate built in. 🤷🏼‍♀️

We stay on friends' property a couple of days before we check in, so I haven't done a whole lot of checking on RV Parks, but from what I've seen the 'nice-ier' ones in the WDW/Orlando area are pretty expensive for what they offer.

They’ve released two specials that include campsites at the Fort!!! I was able to save almost $500 on 14 nights (maximum nights with AP discount) in May.

I'm happy for you, Cheryl. $500 is REAL money to me - so Congrats!

Disney is pulling the levers with you AP holders now for summer (although we went in May once and although warm, it was not July hot). So May might still be comfortable for you.

Wonder if they will do a general public discount other than the annual late August-September offer they've done in the past.

Go spend that $500 on something for yourselves - a treat during your trip you would not have done otherwise.

I just booked today for mid-September. The prices are awesome. $111 a night for a premium site, I'm glad we were flexible with our dates.
That's the "Stay Longer and Save More" discount. Didn't realize it ran from May 1 to the end of September. 20% off is good this far in advance - glad it worked out for you.

This is a prime example of why folks should check the "Special Offers" link at the bottom of the main www.disneyworld.com web page for deals. Nine months in advance means they REALLY need to fill campsites during the warmer summer/back to school months.

PS - and the Tent sites during weekdays in September (normally $73 a night) which is the absolutely cheapest time of the year (mid-August till end of September) are $58.40 a night (20% off) and when was the last time you could get ANY site that cheap at Fort Wilderness? (although I personally still refuse to go in July-September for any price)

Oh I agree, it'll be hot better than our June trip with my in laws though. We really do just sit around so the heat is bearable. I would have preferred to go a little later in the month but couldn't pass up paying less than $800 for our stay. Flexibility is key and just playing around with the website. Normally we'd just do full hook up but are splurging for my parents, heck we are even thinking about renting a golf cart.

Disney only releases discounts when things aren't selling, and FW stays pretty full most of the year. Anecdotally speaking, it seems like the tent/pop up sites tend to have the most availability, and Disney rarely discounts the cheapest rooms at resorts.
