"NFL LITE" AKA COLLEGE FOOTBALL 2024

Today's OSU/Oregon game just reinforced my contention that if OSU plays their A Game,no one can beat them.

West coast teams are always overrated, they rarely perform well against SEC/B10 schools. No shock at all with that game.
Didn't Oregon win the B1G though and was undefeated?

I was trying to poke fun because people were saying the 1st round games were such blowouts, the committee picked the wrong teams.

They barely beat my extra sucky Wisconsin Badgers. I was at that game where they drove the struggle bus against us.

I already knew that were not all that and a bag of chips.

Not a college football fan (central CA-Niners) but watched the Texas/AZ game today. Didn't turn out the way I wanted but oh well. Cameron Skattebo went to my little high school (also my kids went there). His dad and his dad's brothers were the age of my oldest son and kind of the bad boys of town at the time (no more, but way back in the early 90's). While Cameron was playing football in high school, my sister ran the parent stuff for football, throwing the breakfasts, the snackbar, fundraisers, etc so she is good friends of him. Thought I'd give it a go and watch.

I was rooting for Arizona State too. Sadly, Texas really stepped up at the end of the game to earn their spot.

Skattebo didn't get enough consideration for the Heisman-he should have been in New York.

And targeting should have been called on the play in the 4th quarter which could have changed the outcome of the game.

I hate the targeting rule. I know it's in place for player safety, but the enforcement of it seems to be all across the board, and sometimes things can't be avoided.

Not a particular game, but a defender goes to tackle and has his head lowered and should go to the side of the ball carrier (think in the arm pit area). The defender is committed and in the process of the tackle. But the ball carrier slightly turns his body and lowers his head, and next thing you know, it's helmet to helmet and the defender is called for targeting. But he had no chance of avoiding the hit because where the hit happened was because of the actions of the ball carrier.

I walked away from the game to do something and missed that play. It sure looked like targeting to me.

Looks like the Georgia "Dynasty" is officially over. Lol

I am going to pull for ND to win it all.

They are a Blueblood of College Football and haven't won a NC in THIRTY SIX YEARS!!!!

Texas vs Arizona State

I rarely watch college football but that game was on yesterday afternoon at my cousin’s house.

Is THAT how tie games are resolved??? Has it always been that way? Seems kind of bush league, like penalty kicks in the World Cup final or shootouts in Olympic Gold medal hockey.

I was looking thru the results of Bowl Games and noticed some minor Bowl went into the 6th overtime using this bogus method.

In college football, yes. First OT, both teams get it at the 25 yard line. If tied after that, the second OT is the same thing except the teams have to go for 2 if they score a TD.

If it goes to a 3rd OT, then it’s just a battle of 2 point conversions, like a soccer shootout.

Sort of. It used to be alternating possessions starting at the 25 yard line. Around 1989 or 1990 (maybe 91), they changed the rule so starting in the third OT, the teams MUST go for 2. There were games that went 6 or 7 OTs using this method.

This format (two sets of alternative possessions from the 25, followed single plays from the three) started either this year or last.
