Hi!

Is anyone planning a New Years Trip, or will be in the parks on NYE? What is your plan? šŸ¾

We will be in WDW 12/29-1/3.

My daughter turns 13 on December 31. We are planning to go to Epcot on her birthday!

Other plans for the week: Behind the Seeds tour in Epcot and a Capture Your Moment photoshoot for her. :)

Unfortunately no, we won't be having a Disney New Year, but this sounds like a really awesome Birthday celebration for your daughter! This will be one party she will remember for a long time :bday:

Will definitely be there but no firm plans beyond being at DS at midnight. I think this will be our fourth holiday visit and only one was spent in the parks. We found the Springs met our needs.

Have fun and enjoy the birthday celebration!

We hope to be there, but are waiting to see if airfare gets more reasonable.

Has anyone ever been at Disneyland on New Years Eve?? Any tips on being there at that time with a family is greatly appreciated!

How family friendly is the New Year's eve crowd at EPCOT?
Our first WDW visit that included NYE was spent at EPCOT. We went with 2 kiddos who were between 8 and 12 years old at the time. They enjoyed being up that late (of course) and had fun dancing, watching fireworks and seeing interactive buskers. Itā€™s crowded but we found it manageable for the most part. Didnā€™t reach (lowish) Time Sq. levels until close to midnight.

Spending the 12-20 to 1-2 week at the Beach Club. We have reservations at Rosa Mexicana at 7:30 and plan to hang around the beach club and watch the EPCOT fireworks from the beach. Can't wait!

I've seen worse on a typical F&W festival Saturday, in my humble opinion. You'll always find people doing their Epcot thing on some level, but I don't think it's necessarily something to avoid for most ages. It's a super fun night, entertainment and good energy abound, and Disney does an incredible job with traffic flow and people management. If anything the sheer volume of people drowns out most bad behavior. I won't say it's all squeaky clean, but it's manageable.

Thanks everyone. How uncomfortable is the New Year's Eve fireworks crowd at EPCOT compared to MK?

Airfare prices are definitely higher than normal for the timeframe. Taking Amtrak down and Delta back home this time.
GL and have fun wherever you are!

Yes but our departure day is also on the 31st so we won't actually be in the parks to ring in the new year!

Sort of unfortunately MK was long fully booked for park reservations (as early as end of September!) so we could only do Epcot. Hopefully we don't regret it with how packed the park is going to be that day :clown:

Youā€™ll have more space to move around in at Epcot rather than MK šŸ™‚
And youā€™ll miss the spectacle of people queuing to enter the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse šŸ‘€ā€¦

Iā€™m worried that EP would be a lot of standing around. What is there to do with kids on NYE (vs MK) and how bad are the lines for food? Pretty bad?

Both parks will be very busy. There will be lines for everything in both parks.
If you can find food places at Epcot that are not serving any alcohol, that is your best bet for shorter lines. If you can make an ADR somewhere (anywhere) just to give yourself a break, Iā€™d do that.

There are people that stake out great spots for fireworks early and stand around. We just walk and enjoy the fireworks from wherever we happen to be. We donā€™t care what spot weā€™re in. Itā€™s a vibe just being there. :)

The first time we celebrated New Years in Epcot my kids were 10 and 13. They had a blast! We did laps in World Showcase. They loved seeing the different dance parties. I was the exhausted one at the end of the evening. Not them. lol.

If you decide to do MK on New Years Eve, then youā€™ll have more opportunities for rides - but of course the waits will be long. And there may be some pop up dance parties.

We will be there, second time spending NYE at EPCOT. First time things were crowded but we found a spot about 1.5 hours prior to fireworks and relaxed there. Kids went back and forth doing their thing but we were glad to relax a bit.
Just gotta make sure you figure out which way the wind is blowing and not be in that direction because the amount of fireworks they use is like 10 times more than luminous and the remnants will get all over you.
