When night falls, the Disneyland Resort lights up with even more magic – and beginning next year, you will be able to experience this enchanting time with a new series of events. Disneyland After Dark kicks off January 18 with its first after-hours event – Throwback Nite!

Step back in time to the ‘50s and ‘60s for a taste of the classic after-dark experience at Disneyland. Come dressed in your best to enjoy the Happiest Place on Earth under a million twinkling lights, swinging to the tune of the bands and enjoying your favorite rides in the cool moonlight ‘till the clock strikes 1 a.m.!

Original attraction posters of Disneyland experiences from yesteryear welcome you as you commemorate the evening with special photo locations – and unlimited digital downloads are included with your event admission! Live music and dancing bring the bygone era to life throughout the park, and the sky lights up with an exclusive showing of “Fantasy in The Sky” fireworks. Guests will receive a commemorative lanyard and a vintage-inspired park map that will highlight the special experiences taking place throughout the evening.

This trip down memory lane will truly be one for the ages! Tickets for Throwback Nite will be available on Disneyland.com for Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders beginning Nov. 30 and for general public beginning Dec. 7.

And this is just the first in an ongoing series of unique events! Each Disneyland After Dark “nite” will be a can’t-miss experience featuring specialty entertainment, themed food, collectible merchandise and more. Keep an eye on Disneyland.com to learn about this and future Disneyland After Dark events.

Sounds neat. I've been eyeing a trip to Anaheim, so maybe it should coincide with this thing. I'll need to see some prices first though.

Is this going through be similar to WDW Disney After Hours where you get 3 hours of exclusive ride time, but this is more themed with food and entertainment? The DAH event in Florida was so much fun. The Florida event even had specially lanyards. With the food, entertainment and fireworks either this will be more expensive or will have holiday party sized crowds. I think the price point will be a determining factor. I do note that this event isn’t being billed as “little to no wait times” like the Florida one.

Yes, there are certainly a lot of unknowns right now. I'm trying to think back on the Annual Passholder evenings they had a few years ago. At those lines were short (shorter than party nights), but not walk-on, like what DAH is like. I think the price will be the deciding factor, though the theme aspect is pretty cool!

Funny, I was just coming to post this. Definitely interested, it sounds fun. By the way it is worded I get the feeling it is more than one night? Does anyone have an opinion about that.
I would have to wait to get tix when they go in sale to the general public so don't want to miss out. I love going to Disneyland with my kids but as a couple we went to the electrical parade event and had the best time EVER .

So, wait. Is this a situation where the parks are going to be closing early multiple times for ticketed events (like the Halloween party nights? Or are these events only going to take place in the 'off season' when the parks usually close around 9-ish anyway, like the old 'private parties of yesteryear, like Telephone Pioneer Night.

It looks like they are scheduling it like they do for Magic Kingdom’s after hours which is from 8-11 or 9-12 once the park closes to day guests. Also this first one is on a Thursday night so it’s not unusual for the park to close at 8 or 9 on Thursday during the off season.

Agreed, I think this could happen once in a while, usually weeknights when they would close earlier anyways! And more likely in off-season

Wish I was coming then. Maybe they will have some more dates pop up and another trip will be needed.

I have an overnight trip the end of January, I hope my night is one of the nights.

If you're going to DLR during one of these events and you don't frequently visit Disney info sites, you aren't going to know about it until you're there.

I do find it interesting the first night is a Thursday night. Announcing it now 2.5 weeks before tickets go on-sale, seems geared towards locals.

It's pretty much on par with the Halloween Party ticket pricing.

Erin Glover's posts vex me to no end. They are always fuzzy on the details. I read them knowing it's gonna be a tv episode with a To Be Continued..... The OCRegister has the price but the Disney blog did not?

Dear Erin, how does the OC Register have more info then you? o_O

It sounds fun, but I won't be attending the first one. I did 2 of the after hours things last year in January and it was really cold. I did enjoy the park visits more than a normal day (by a long shot, actually), but I don't feel like going in the dark cold right now. Plus, it could rain (as it did during one of the things I went to last January). I hope the follow up ones are closer to spring.

FWIW, I find the $95. to be well worth it. When the rides are basically walk on and there is loud non-Disney music playing, it's a totally different experience. If they offered stuff like this regularly, I probably wouldn't bother with an AP and would just pay for the after hours events. If you are on the fence about going, I do highly recommend going if you like to do lots of rides.

I find it interesting they are doing it on a Thursday night. In my opinion definitely playing towards the locals. We we would absolutely go if it were on a Saturday night. Hopefully one in the future will be on a Saturday night.

I assume they're doing it on a week night because they can close the park earlier.
