Disney Gift Cards 101
Combine & Protect​

Sweet! Now that you have a stack of Disney gift cards (DGC), now what? It's important to verify the amount on your cards immediately after purchase, if there are any issues, now is the time to resolve them.

Combining Your Disney Gift Cards
Even though we recommend combining your DGC, there is one very important caveat.

• Never combine DGC purchased from a third party site (Raise, giftcards .com etc.) with store bought cards (Target, Sam's Club etc). You need to keep those separated and labeled
  • Combine third party site with third party site.
  • Combine store bought with store bought.

To get started you need to create an account at disneygiftcard.com. This will allow you to verify your funds, combine them, monitor your cards and transfer during an emergency.

You are allowed to transfer funds from one card to another, up to $1,000. It's a very easy process. Just know, you can only transfer the full amount on the card to another card, partial transfers are not allowed.

Now What?
These next steps are 100% necessary, it's work but it's also piece of mind knowing if something happens to your funds, you can prove to Disney you are the purchaser:

Label your Main Cards

• Resort #1, Resort #2, Resort #3, Tickets, Food & Beverage, Souvenirs

Keep a Spreadsheet & Record EVERYTHING!

• Date of Purchase, Purchased From, Method Paid, GC Amount, Last Four digits, Date of Transfer, Main Card Name, Balance, Date Used and what it was used for.

Save your original receipts and empty gift cards.

• On the back of your receipt, write down the entire gc # and Security code.
• Staple the receipt to the card and place in a ziploc bag.
• Same with eGifts. Print, record & bag it.
• After your trip, you can shred everything provided your Main Cards are empty. If you still have funds on your Main card, you'll need to save the information associated to it.

BUT WHY?!?
If the gift card gets reversed, reported stolen or used and not by you, the only way you're going to get your money back is by proving to Disney you are the purchaser.

If your account is suspected of fraud, Disney has the right to shut you down. In order to unlock or release your funds, you will be required to provide proof of purchase.

All of these recommendations are based on experiences from our members. They are recorded on the pages of this thread and serve as Data Points.

Tip

• Take at least one or two empty cards with you when traveling (or save the e-gift card #). If you lose/misplace your primary card you can go online and transfer the remaining balance onto the empty one.
