Can anyone recommend things to do while here? MY father and his wife just moved there and we are driving down Saturday to visit. Other than the beach and pool....any good restaraunts, activities for the kids?

I went there for dinner when I went to Myrtle Beach. It is a quieter place known for its seafood restaurants. Not sure there is anything specific to do right in the inlet, but Myrtle Beach is close enough.

It is right next to Mytle Beach. There is a ton of thing to do there.

You have the beaches, great resturants and good shopping.

We really like going to Broadway by the Beach. Its about 25min drive from where they are on route 17bypass.

My favorite restaurant in the Myrtle Beach area ---- T-Bones. NOT T-Bonz.

But T-Bones. Best BBQ I may have ever had!

Murrell's Inlet in all honesty is a small strip of land that is now mostly restaurants although you can get the charter boats for all-day fishing and also do the para-sailing from here. All the restaurants on are on the oceanside, so it is really nice to see the fishing boats and the ocean while you eat.

Nance's is the most well known restaurant in Murrell's Inlet, but the food there isn't really that good. Also, stay away from Drunken Jacks. The Divine Fish House and the "Bovine" restaurant next door are excellent but a bit pricey. The Dockside is also a really good restaurant.

As someone else mentioned - you are only about 22 minutes south of Broadway at the Beach. http://www.broadwayatthebeach.com/

This is a great site for all sorts of activities, resorts, dining while in the Myrtle Beach area.http://www.myrtlebeachlive.com/vacation-tips.cfm

We visited Murrell's Inlet during our trip to Myrtle a few weeks ago and was very disappointed. It was just a strip of restaurants and a few shops. There was not much scenery and the views of the ocean were not that great. Unless we missed something big, I don't get the hype.

Two words:

DRUNKEN JACK'S

This is a great family restaurant with the best seafood!:thumbsup2

I like Bonefish, its a restaurant right on the Rt. 17 bypass and they have great food, drinks, and this brownie dessert that is to die for!!

You won't go hungry that is for sure...

I live in Myrtle Beach and have for over 11 years and know the area from Little River to Georgetown exceptionally well.

Murrells Inlet is three towns SOUTH of MB. Between MB and MI there is Surfside Beach, Garden City, and Soccastee. Murrells Inlet is just that, not a beach but an inlet. It is beautiful and just as everything along the Grand Strand, it is close to many attractions...although the main attraction of MI is it's seafood.

Somebody mentioned Nance's Restaurant. This used to be one that I would always suggest, but in recent years has gone down hill dramatically. Also, it is NOT included in the now very popular Marsh Walk.

The Marsh Walk (http://www.murrellsinletmarshwalk.com/) is an area of a boardwalk along the Inlet with several restaurants, many with live music etc. It's a great place to kick back and relax. Great restaurants are Capt. Dave Dockside (GREAT and higher end), and Creek Ratz (laid back atmosphere and great food).....both are on the marsh walk with terrific views of the water.

And sorry, but Drunken Jacks is not somewhere I would suggest. Been there and would not take family or friends nor would we return. It's a bit over priced, ($38 for DD8 and myself) and two dining with us returned their entree's. This was as recent as this summer also, but to each their own - just throwing the word of caution out there. ;)

There are also boat rentals (Dick's Marina is at Marsh Walk). Brookgreen Gardens is in MI and is an AMAZING place to visit (www.Brookgreengardens.org) and Huntington Beach State Park is also close by (http://www.huntingtonbeachsc.org/).

Into Garden City and Surfside, about 5 miles, you have water parks (Wild Water and Wheels), shopping, and mini golf, etc. Then you also have MB up the road about 30 minutes depending on traffic. South, there is Pawleys Island (BEAUTIFUL with cute shops) and also Litchfield Beach.

Hope that helps. Enjoy your trip! Any other questions about the area - I'm happy to help...not on the Dis that much lately so feel free to email or PM me.

Thanks for the replies, I wasn't sure how far the action actually was from them. They aren't into that obviously, so we seem close enough. Thank god we're driving down we'll have our own car. We will definately have to drive into Myrtle Beach.

the Marshwalk looks really cool. Which place there has the best steaks? My wife and I love a good steak.

Are their shops there also?

...........the BEST hands down is Bovines (www.bovineswoodfired.com) on the Marsh Walk and yes, it's fantastic! :worship:

No there aren't really shops on the walk, there are restaurants, bars, and beautiful scenery! There is a shop across the street called the Lazy Gator which is HUGE and a lot of fun to look through.

Absolutely! Also the Divine Fish Restaurant which is just next door has the best seafood we've had down there. I believe these two are sister restaurants owned by the same company.

I also agree about Drunken Jack's - awful!

My dad works for Brook Green Gardens and we're going there Sunday. I really didn't know what it was until I looked at the link, thanks.

Also, are the restaraunts at Marshwalk all kid friendly. Some sound really good, but I didn't see kids menus on some sites. Bovines in particular.

What's happened to Drunken Jack's? I used to eat there every time I went to MB. (I haven't been to MB in probably 6 years, though.) I could make a whole meal just off of their hushpuppies and honey butter. The entrees were OK - not great, but not horrible either. I always felt like all of the restaurants in the Murrells Inlet area were overpriced, but nothing too outrageous.

We took my DS who was 7 at the time to Bovines - they have a kids menu, I am sure he had chicken fingers!

A friend of mine use to go to Druken Jacks all the time and loved it, she just went with family and was not happy. She said the food wasn't good and the service also was great. She doesn't know what happen.

Children would be welcome at all restaurants in MI. Bouvine's may not have a child's menu but they are great to work with you.

And for the post about the sister restaurant...Divine Fish.....yes they are owned by the same company. Divine Dining is the company. ANY restaurant owned by them is above par and outstanding! http://www.divinedininggroup.com/ They are exceptional along the beach in all they do. Even pizza and burgers are yum yum yum!!!popcorn::

And you will LOVE Brookgreen Gardens. We went a lot this summer....it is always beautiful in any season. Your kids will like the zoo portion too. There is also a boat ride they can take advantage of, and a nature walk. What does your father do there?

I hope you have a great time!!

About Drunken Jacks. Wish I knew what happened....I just know it was HORRIBLE and has been getting a lot of bad reviews lately. With so many others to choose from that are yummy....I wouldn't waste my time or money.

ENJOY! :goodvibes
