Monsters, Inc ride

This is pure speculation, opinion, and/or suggestion.

On the way out of the theater after our family first saw Monster's Inc., we all said "I bet Disney's working on a thrill ride that's based on the door tram chase scene right now, it's a perfect match. Wonder how long before it opens"

The reason I'm bringing this up now is that I'm guessing that these mega-attractions take several years to plan, so if that's true, then probably Universal was planning the Shrek attraction during or close to the movie's completion? Or they at least had plans in place to be green lighted once the movie hit a certain success level?

I know Disney/Pixar and Universal do not think alike, but I'm sure they study each other and try to glean best practices.
Any comments?

Peace,

G4L, I would love for you to be correct! While my family loves all of the Disney movies, the Pixar ones are particular favorites! They really seem to have the "inside jokes" that make them appealling to ALL ages! Wouldn't you love it if Disney had a focus group for consumers where we could meet with imagineers to talk about projects in the works and make suggestions about new rides and attractions? That would be heaven for all of us fanatics! BTW, speaking of planning ahead, my kids just read in a magazine that in Monsters, Inc. you can see a little fish toy in Boo's room that is Nemo! I never noticed it before, guess I will have to watch the DVD again today to look for that! We can't wait to see Nemo, that one we will pay full price for! Lacee

Imagineers have already drawn up literally hundreds of great ideas for attractions 50 times better then the average public could dream of. There is a slight snag on getting any of them built. Eisner.

We were just watching it last night before bed and there he was! He is in the same scene as the Jessie doll at the very end. It was such a kick to recognize him. The last time we watched, Nemo wasn't out like he is now, so we didn't recognize him. Really fun!

Yep, Jessie, Nemo, and the ball from "Luxo, Jr" are all in Boo's room! I love Pixar's sight gags.

I think it would be a fun ride -- where would you put it? MK/EPCOT/D-MGM/AK? I'd say D-MGM or MK.

You've just been appointed to chief Imagineer for the Monsters Inc Door ride. So what's it going to be like? What ages will it be for? How will the seating work? Will it just be a roller coaster like ride or will there be more? Have fun. :)

I said this a long time ago in a thread that was basically the same topic on the attrations and strategies board.

I would put it in the Magic Kingdom, probably either in Fantasyland or Tomorrowland. The entrance would be a mockup of the factory entry-way, with two queues. One for a roller coaster with the closet doors, and the other a dark ride that would tour the factory.

Hello everyone! My husband and I were in Disney October of last year and believe we may have actually seen some evidence to suggest that they are indeed making a ride (or something along those lines) for Monsters, Inc.

We were wandering around MGM and noticed some of the "scream" cans in the back of one of many buildings they have. It also had a sign on the top that something about "scaring in process". I don't remember all of the details nor exactly where it was in MGM, but i though you'd all like to know that it may already have begun being built.

Sorry for the long message but it's my first post here! ;)

Sorry to disappoint, but I believe what you saw in MGM is where the characters come out for a meet and greet and nothing more than that.

It would be a perfect opportunity for a hanging coaster.....but that's just the obvious idea.

I would absolutely love a Monsters,Inc. attraction for WDW.I would say it needs to be in the Disney MGM Studios.I strongly agree that this needs to be the door chase scene, but I really dont know how this could be done.Possibly something like Peter Pan's Flight?

I wouldn't mind a Star Tours type deal in MK, in Fantasyland because, they are Monsters after all.

I agree with Goofy08. Definately placed in MGM and something to the extent of the Peter Pan Flight. This is one of my son's favorite movies as well as the entire family. Toy Story being # 1.

I would love to see a Toy story movie. I don't have that great of an imagination to come up with how to do it, but I am sure the
Disney Imagineers can come up with something. We missed the
BUzz ride in MK the last time we were there. We are going again
in Oct 2004 and I won't miss it this time.
