We are planning to be at park early Friday morning and leave late Tuesday afternoon. Anyone been over that weekend and have any thoughts on crowd levels?

The last 2 times we visited we arrived on Saturday and stayed the whole week. Saturday thru Tues was quite busy ( not Christmas busy, but busy) the crowds ease up a bit on Tuesday. Adding to the crowds were the prescence of large tour groups in the parks that week

Thanks, RMulieri. Based on hotel rates, which for the fri-Sunday are Regular Season, not holiday, I assumed it would not be that crowded. Are we talking hour long waits for the popular rides?

When we were there last year, by mid-day spiderman was almost 60 mins in standby as was Gringotts and Forbidden Journey. Despicable me was over 100 mins ( it always has the longest lines) .Express pass was minimal if any waits EXCEPT for Despicable me , which we waited over 20 mins for WITH express pass.Early entry we waited 10 mins for Forbidden journey the first day, a little longer the 2nd because it broke down .We assumed the same thing, that it wouldn't be all that busy, but compared to the year before, it was noticeably busier.Alot more tourgroups seemed to be in the parks this past year too than the year before. It could have been a fluke, but I was surprised .The hotel rates were also regular not holiday.

Just judging by Southwest prices into Orlando, it will be pretty busy that weekend.

Following.....my friend and I will be there for the long MLK weekend.....hope it's not sure busy or too cold. I've been March (spring break time) before and I thought it was busy but not horrible tho we did have to wait some in lines for popular rides.

Opinions on which is busier...MLK weekend or spring break???

Busier during Spring break

We did the same trip this year over MLK weekend. Flew in on Thur. night left on Tuesday afternoon. I would agree the parks were busy with lots (let me rephrase tons) of South American tour groups. We simply avoided them and they weren't too much of a bother. We stayed onsite and had express passes so we didn't wait in many lines. Longest was 1 1/4 hours for Escape from Gringotts. We did it early entry as well and waited less than 15 minutes (same with Forbidden Journey). Most lines were less than 30 minutes, however I did see spiderman get up to 70 minutes during one of our many rides.

The weather was great and me might drive down for another MLK this trip if the bank account cooperates. Enjoy!

Spring Break will be busier Florida can be chilly in january but still enjoyable...most of our January trips its been about 60-65 degrees I have found that a light jacket and gloves do the trick If my hands are warm, Im happy! ha!

We are also going over MLK 2016, Saturday through Tuesday. Hoping express pass and early entry will help. Do both parks do early entry for resort guests over that weekend, or just IOA?

Also, is there anywhere online to find out how many SA tour groups are expected? We had such a bad experience with them at Disney a couple of years ago, kind of scared to try a January again. (But not so scared that we're not going!)

No way to know ho many tour groups. I will say , there seemed to be more last year than the same week a year before
