Military Discount for Rooms Question

I searched but the threads were from last year.

Can anyone tell me WHAT the military discount is on rooms and how many rooms a military member who is eligible can reserve?

The discount varies - recently it has only been like 25% for my choices. Used to be 40% on deluxe. 2 rooms is my understanding. It is such a pain to have to call that we have been booking direct on other discounts. Good luck!

Thank you. We are looking at the moderates and need 3 rooms but even 2 would be a blessing.

I haven't done it because my DH *retired AF* does not want to vacation with the military, but have you looked at Shades of Green? At least you can walk to the Poly.

They are booked for our time frame. There is apparently a big event going on.

CBR is not included in this year's discount. We booked Port Orleans, but since royal rooms were all that was available for our dates, it ended up being the same as a rack rate POFQ. Perhaps you will have luck with CSR. Ft. Wilderness cabins are considered moderate rooms. While more expensive than other moderates, they sleep 6. It's a beautiful resort, though spread out.

Thanks so much!

3 rooms and this years discounts were very very low and few selections for our August trip.

In virtually every other year we've had plenty of military discounts to choose from.

Zero this year.

The active duty or retired military member can only reserve up to 2 rooms at a discount using one military ID.

At WDW, the discounts vary, but are generally 35% Deluxe, 30% Moderates, 25% Values.

At Disneyland, it's 40% at the Grand Californian, 35% at the Disneyland Hotel, and 30% at the Paradise Pier Hotel.

It is MUCH easier to find military discount rooms at DLR than at WDW. At DLR, if there is any inventory at all in the system, there will be a military discount available. This is not the case at WDW, where they severely limit the military discounted rooms available.

I suppose we should be grateful for any military discount at all, but it’s clear to me there has been a dramatic drop in availability, and that’s a shame.

You pretty much have to call and book the day the discount is announced in order to have a choice in resorts offering the discount at WDW.

The bolded is inaccurate. You can, have always been able to and still currently can book up to 3 military discounted rooms per military id. As stated earlier we have done this numerous times and had 3 rooms booked this year for an upcoming trip. We canceled as the military discount was just not good, but either way it is up tob3 rooms, not 2.

Availability and actual discount...this year it was a huge diminished discount.

Directly from the offer details page:

  • Excludes applicable fees and taxes. Limit two (2) rooms per reservation and occupancy restrictions apply per room.
In addition, the military member OR spouse must stay in the room. So, not sure how that would be possible with 3 rooms booked.

I was told 2 rooms by a Dreams Unlimited agent, too.

Your Dreams Unlimited agent is wrong and I wouldn't book with them. Just give Disney a call and tell them you want to book 3 rooms with the military discount.
There are MULTIPLE sites that explain the correct information regarding 3 rooms can be booked by 1 id. Like I said we've done this for years and had 3 booked for the same time with me, the dependent and only one with. a mil. id only staying in 1 room.

Yes, unfortunately there is LOTS of misinformation and misinformed ppl. in regards to Disney, but if you want to book 3 rooms through Disney with the military discount and only 1 id; you 100% can.

"Qualified individuals (see above) may book up to a maximum of 3 rooms at Walt Disney World Resort and 2 rooms with up to 5 people in each at the Disneyland Resort at any time during the period of the Disney Armed Forces Salute. All rooms must be in the same resort and check in on the same day. The member or spouse must occupy one of the rooms."

Disneyland is different, so perhaps that's what the misinformation is coming from, but for WDW, which is what we're talking about here. it's definitely 3 rooms/id.
