Hi ladies, I know this probably exists somewhere, but I'm looking into how we will design our ceremony programs...it makes little sense to have an indoor ceremony in October and use Mickey Mouse fans, but I'm thinking of doing what another bride has done and using the template and creating a different style of program (with no fan stick).

Can anyone help me out? My email is ToniandHeath@gmaildotcom

Thanks!
~Toni

Toni~ I used the template to make different programs too. I won't be home until late tonight, but I can share it with you some time this weekend.

I copied over what I posted in the POTD thread earlier this week~

These were amazing, but were so much work I don't think I would do them again. The inside pages were circles which we had to individual cut with an exacto knife. I had 9 pages which meant that we cut out over 450 pages :headache: We spent many, many hours on these babies!

When Kris and I were leaving the Rotunda after the wedding we started grabbing the leftover programs off the seats. My coordinator asked what we were doing and Kris said we spent way too much time on these to let them go to waste! :rotfl: Needless to say our coordinator made sure that they were all collected for us to keep.

LOL! You're the bride where I saw the program and was like WHOA, THOSE ARE EXACTLY WHAT WE WOULD WANT!!!! Then i read about how difficult it was and honestly, I'm a little discouraged but not enough to throw the idea out the window completely! Our wedding is October 11th, 09, so we have a lot of time to figure this out should we decide to do it. I really love them, so any help you can provide (along with the template) I really appreciate it. I also might have questions along the way, so be warned :)

It actually wouldn't have been as hard if I wouldn't have included so many pages, so don't get too discouraged. My dad was the biggest help with them because he cut out a die (wood template) for us to follow in the Mickey shape and in the circle shape. I'll send you everything this weekend though when I'm on my home computer.

Sounds good, i look forward to getting your email! :) Any chance that the die is still around and available for a price? :) :) :)

I would love to get the template too.. :) What is the best way to make the mickey head?
Thank you

If you're into scrapbooking or card making there is a wonderful machine called Cricut. It's a paper cutting machine that you can put different cartridges in to cut shapes out- which makes projects like this very easy. For things like programs you'll want the bigger machine (Cricut Expressions). It will cut the objects out anywhere from 0.25" to 23.5". It's retail price is quite high but you can get it much cheaper on e-bay (new). I got mine for $200 and it came with a couple cartridges. There are 8 Disney cartridges (including 2 Mickey, 2 Pooh, 2 Princess, Cars, and Tinkerbell) My favorite is "Mickey & Friends). Here's an example of just a few of the cut outs from this cartridge:

http://www.cricut.com/res/samplesheets/MickeyandFriends.pdf

It cuts out each piece of the character on the colored paper and you just glue them together... it's really easy and they turn out super cute. It also has the basic mickey head shape- perfect for those programs- without the exacto knife. I also have the Princess one's. Once again don't pay full price for these (they're $99 each :scared1: from cricut and I got both Princess ones in a package on e-bay for $45- new:banana: ) I am not very crafty but a girl I work with who is has one and when I told her I was having a Disney wedding she made a few things for me and well... I bought one! I plan on using it to make my invitations, programs, tags for welcome bags, etc. I'm still 2 years out from my wedding but I'll try to make up some samples to post. This is long, sorry. PM me if you have ?'s.

Last year the Cricut was a Black Friday Doorbuster at Michaels, you may want to check the ads on Thanksgiving.

Ladies-

The cricut is a deal on Thanksgiving at Michaels again, but I can't see how this will work for these programs....I don't think it would be big enough and I don't see where I can get the simple Mickey Mouse head design...

Also, I still need the mickey fan template if anyone out there has one...

And, does anyone know how you would go about getting the words/pictures on the paper like figment fan did? I know I would need to do it on a computer program but which one is the best....

Sorry for all of the silly questions, I'm just trying to put the idea down on paper and see if this is a practical undertaking for me, because when it comes to this stuff, I lack imagination.

Thanks again!!!!!!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Hey there! You have to get the Cricut Expression in order for it to cut big enough for the programs. The cricut expression will cut the basic Mickey shape up to 23.5 inches. The basic Mickey shape is on the Mickey and Friends cartridge (the samples of the cartridge don't show all it can do). As for lining it up with wording I haven't quite figured that out... My friend has a program that links the cricut to the computer so you know exactly where it will cut on the paper in relation to typing etc. I'm not that high tech with it yet so I'll have to get her to help me. How many do you need to make? Good luck!

The one I have is just done in word on a regular 8 X 11 piece of cardstock and then it is just cut out. As for the pics, I just used word and insert them behind the text with text wrapping, The hardest part(the most time consuming part) is cutting them out.... I was originally planning on the single page fan front and back but have changed to a multi page fan. I plan on using a star shaped brad to hold the pages together. If anyone is interested pm me and I will gladly share the template but I need to email it.....:goodvibes

Thank you ladies SO much for the friendly input! My fiance and I dragged our tired butts out of bed at 4:10 a.m. to get the cricut expression from AC Moore. We walked in at 5:10 and were lucky enough to grab one! We're so excited! We did a little more shopping (yikes, it really is a mad house out there!) and then we fell back asleep. We just got back up and we're going to play around with it and see what this bad boy can do! It appears that we will have no trouble doing all that we want and more with this machine. We bought three Disney Cartridges (Michaels had them for $30 a piece so we went there after AC's)-we got Happily Ever After, Disney Font, and Mickey and Friends. I'll post all the results of my projects for you and give an honest review of how I felt the machine met our wedding stationary needs.

Gotta jet, DF just put a Disney Wedding package on my lap! YEEHAW! WHAT IS IT?!?!?!? Can't wait to find out!

Hmmm...it appears that the Design Studio that came in our expressions package has every single cartridge in our library that is available in cricut. I am assuming at this point that it makes absolutely no sense to keep the three disney cartridges that we just bought to day when all three are already available to us in the design studio....I'm so confused. LOL

By the way, the package was our special "gift" from disney as well as organ music sample cd and a cake DVD....I almost cried when I listened to the music....sigh. It's really happening!

Also, our PS trip is scheduled and flights are booked and resort reserved! February 12th through the 17th at Animal Kingdom Lodge with a Savannah View! Mother in law is footing the bill for all of us! YAY! I am so happy I can barely contain myself!

Design studio is the program my friend has that will let you control exactly where your machine cuts in relation to typing etc. She hasn't mentioned that it gives you all the cartridges... maybe she doesn't know... she definately is still always buying cartridges:rotfl2:! Let me know how the design studio works for you... if it really has all the cartridges I am buying it tomorrow!

I'm absolutely NOT an authority on this , but I was looking at the websites of some of the die cutters and remember seeing the Design Studio. I was fascinated that they offered ALL of the cartridges on the Design Studio for a relatively low price. But upon closer inspection I think I remember seeing that you can play around and experiment with all of the shapes in the software, you must own all of the appropriate cartridges to actually make the cuts. I could be wrong, but that's what I seem to remember from the little video. So if you got the cartridges on sale, be sure to test in Design Studio before you return.

Congratulations on your purchase . . . those things look soooo cool!

Yeah, I found that out yesterday when we cracked it open and started playing with it....we cannot use any cartridges that we don't have....this is okay with us because we only wanted to use Disney and a basic circle shape, all of which we bought yesterday too. I was only worried because it first appeared that we bought all of that stuff for nothing....

Okay ladies, I need some brainpower, lend me a hand, please and thank you :)

So, I bought the expressions machine...it came with the design studio (the program that links the cutter to your computer) and since we still only have the trial design studio program (until I mail our receipt) I can't play around with it a lot.

I can see how this will be very useful for multiple wedding stationary purposes but I'm feeling overwhelmed and unsure of my abilities to figure it out.

For example for our mickey mouse programs, I want to have my paper printed with our ceremony information before we cut it, but I'm unsure of how I know where on my paper to place the writing before I cut it. I am afraid the answer is going to be "a lot of trial and error" but I really am too impatient for that. I wish there was a way to take the template from the design studio, throw it over to Microsoft Publisher and design them before I cut them. Does anyone know of any way this can be done?

Also, If anyone out there is very familiar with cricuts and these types of projects and wouldn't mind being my buddy through this all, please contact me!!! I could use a bug friend! :)

I once had this template and I was wondering if someone could please send it to me. if you have it please send it to mickey2009ycg at yahoo.com
thank you soooo much!!!
