Marriott's Grande Vista or Cypress Harbour?

Can someone tell me if the Grande Vista has a Starbucks? Also, do the pools here have a waterslide? Are the renovations on most of the buildings now completed in both resorts? We are trying to decide between the Grande Vista and Cypress Harbour! It will be me, my Mom and my three teenage daughters traveling! Thank you for any info!!

Not a full blown Starbucks but they do serve Starbucks coffee - and some of the specialty drinks - in the Marketplace store.

I don't recall a pool slide there, unless they've recently added one.

FWIW, my family prefers Cypress Harbour over Grande Vista.

Thank you Dick for your reply!! We can stay at the Cypress Harbour also. I have never been to either, so can you tell me why you prefer the Cypress Harbour? Just an fyi, we are getting a two bedroom, and it will be my Mom, my three teenage daughters and myself there!

Thank you so much!

Cypress Harbour is an all two-bedroom resort with units that are quite similar so you'd have a large master bedroom with a king size bed, a large jacuzzi and an en suite bathroom; I think that the second bedroom has a queen bed and a queen sofa bed (when the sofa bed is pulled out there's a limited walk-around space in that bedroom and that also limits access to the closet); the second bathroom has dual access from the main living area of the villa and also from the second bedroom. There's also a queen sofa bed in the livingroom. Typical Marriott dining area and kitchen with washer/dryer in the small laundry room plus a screened-in lanai.

We like the layout of the resort with easy access to all of the primary resort amenities from any of the buildings that are located around the lake. There's a walking bridge that runs across the lake from the Clubhouse Pool area (large pool, childrens' water feature area, one or two hot tubs, lots of lounge chairs and several tables around the pool area and over on the decking looking out toward the lake) to the Island Pool area (sauna, lap pool, general pool area and a waterfall off the sauna building into the general pool). The bar, the food court and the Marketplace store are located adjacent to the Clubhouse Pool and the Reservation center. The resort's Activity Center is located at one end of the lake and there's a relatively new fitness center/spa that is in front of the resort buildings next to the tennis courts.

This well maintained and frequently updated resort is older that Grande Vista but I don't think that you'd notice it other than from the more mature landscaping which makes me feel like I'm in 'old Florida' when we stay there. For us, at least, that gives this resort a more laid-back, resort feel than Grande Vista. This resort became a family favorite of our daughters while in their teens and early twenties.

There are buildings with lake views and buildings with golf course views. We like being closer to the main resort amenities so have always requested (and received) a location on the lake. [See resort map here.] We particularly like buildings 62, 64 and 65 - that latter one is the current favorite for it's adjacency to the Island Pool and easy access across the lake to the food court and early morning coffee at the Marketplace.

Both resorts have the same activities programs and try to cater to largely the same demographic so it's a little difficult to further distinguish the two (we've enjoyed both resorts). Our general preference is for the "resort attitude" that we feel from Cypress Harbour and that we've always been accommodated with our general location requests there as opposed to never being placed where we've asked to be at Grande Vista.

We thought MGV was beautiful & very comfortable last year. :thumbsup2 But IDK about the coffee. :lmao: We stayed there last year before we checked in @ a WDW Resort Hotel. I was impressed,we had a lovely room & enjoyed a wonderful breakfast w/ a golf course view. Marriott is my favorite over all brand, besides Disney. Marriott's Spring Hill Suites is our go to when we travel elsewhere. I can honestly say, I can rely on them to be very clean & very nice w/ great service. We'll be staying @ MGV after our CR stay & I'm looking forward to it. I know the rooms will be very nice but we didn't have time to explore the Resort. It felt very similar to the WDW moderate priced Resort hotels. If the hotel would be anywhere besides Orlando I know they would charge a ton more for it. It does have a very grand feel. :thumbsup2 Our only complaint was we could not find an ice machine anywhere. :confused3 In Florida you need ice in your drink, lol!! So that will be something we ask about @ check in. Besides that it was beautiful from what we saw. :jumping1:

Thank you so much for the replies!! They both look very nice although Grande Vista does look much bigger in size. With 5 of us doing, me, my mom and three teenaged daughters, do you think the rooms in the 2 bedrooms at Grande Vista would be better than Cypress Harbour? Which resort do you think would be better for teens?

I've stayed in both and prefer Cypress Harbor. The villa just felt more like a villa and less like a big room with bedroom and a lock off, which is what we had a Grand Vista. CH also felt more like a resort, whereas GV is spread out and HUGE. Both are lovely; we just liked the layout and villa at Cypress Harbor better.

Thank you! So you think that the rooms at Cypress Harbour would be OK for the five of us in a two bedroom? Would my teen daughters like the resort do you think???

On an over-all basis, the villas at Cypress Harbour are larger than the average 2-bedroom at Grande Vista (about 50 sq. ft. larger). Though at the original villas at Grande Vista a dedicated two-bedroom units and it seems to me that the second bedroom in those are a little bit bigger than at Cypress Harbour - maybe it an illusion though as there are two double beds in the GV 2nd bedrooms.

We've done both resorts with at least six people and it seemed to work out. Everybody has to get along pretty well though as it can get a little close. And at least one somebody has to be willing to sleep on a sofa bed.
