Anyone have recommendations for strong magnet sheets that will stick to the doors? We're going on the Wonder, and I've read that the doors on older ships have been painted over so many times that some magnets don't work. I have a Cricut so the plan is to print, cut, laminate, then attach magnet sheet to the back (rather than print directly onto the really thin sheets). There are plenty of listings on Amazon that claim to be "super strong," but I've learned not to trust Amazon when it matters. Thanks!

I found a pack of magnet strips at Hobby Lobby. Used them this month on the back of (light weight) wooden shapes. For the Magic - so magnetic pull should be very similar. They come in about 3x4” “sheets,” which are actually strips (that would be the 1/2” listed on the package -so 2 sheets per pack) that pull apart. One side is sticky (you see the white strip being removed in the photo.

I used various amounts of tape, depending on the weight of the object. (I tested it on our refrigerator.). They held to the cabin door very well.

It says Gauss rating 330. I tried various strengths/ shapes on the metal shelves at the store Before picking this one. This one isn’t really bulky, is easy to use and not very expensive. I used to use magnetic photo printer paper and find this a little thicker - and definitely less expensive.

None of them slid around on the door. Possibly could have used less, but I prepared them at home.

Michael’s might have something similar. Hobby Lobby was just closer. I think you can order them online. Probably Amazon, too.

Thanks! Maybe I'll do strips instead and just bring the pack with me in case I need to add more.
I’ve printed magnet sheets and I’ve done strips. The strips are way better. The magnet sheets I ordered from Amazon barely stick at all, and my inkjet wasn’t that great at printing what I wanted them to print anyway.

So now I stick with cutting and drawing shapes on the Cricut, rather than trying to print from the printer and then cut on the Cricut.

When shopping Amazon always check the reviews because somebody will complain about the fact that they don’t stick to one or another metal surfaces and that’s how you find out which ones are not the strongest magnet. Thin magnets can be good for some things. Just doesn’t seem to be what we need on the magic class ships. It’s nice to have the thinner ones for the larger projects to use on the bigger ships.

These strips worked well for me on the Wonder. I get them in the craft department at Walmart

you ideally want a thicknesses of 30 mil, the 20 mil work but slide a bit. Anything advertised as fits in a printer is too thin.

I get the letter paper sized adhesive sheets and cut my designs out then fit as many as possible on the sheet. I’ve used 2 pieces together on a front (basically using every last scrap)

It’s like $30 for 10 sheets but I can get 3-4 cruises worth from a pack and they held so well I forget to photograph them sometimes 😂

This thread is making me wonder if I should get magnetic strips to attach to the back of the custom magnets we bought for our Alaska cruise. Maybe just bring along and attach if we find the magnetic backing isn’t holding?

I’m definitely going to. I think I found the product I’m going to buy but I definitely plan on bringing extra just in case, along with some super glue. I’ve worked with magnetic tape before and sometimes the adhesive just unsticks. I worked too hard on the magnets for them to just not stick to the door!

Any reviews you can read on the product?

For the small price (and packable size) of the Hobby Lobby ones those from Wal-Mart, you could just throw it into your (somewhat small) suitcase. Your custom-made ones will probably cling well, though.
