I'm not a fan of ham. I can eat it if I have to (last year at Easter the options were ham or lamb, so I ate the ham because lamb is worse), but I'd prefer not. Oddly, I don't so much mind the ham in Europe and will go for a jambon beurre in France on occasion.

I don't mind ham, but I don't tend to eat it that often. We actually usually make turkey for most holidays, including yesterday for Easter.

I like whole/real ham. I do NOT care for the 'semi-boneless' or deli meat type hams where they remove the bone and then squish what remains into something that looks like whole ham.............LOL. Totally changes the texture of it into something I don't care for. Some types of hams can also be excessively salty so good to know which brands you like best.

There’s a store on the Upper Westside of Manhattan called Zabar’s and they sell an amazing assortment of hams: Westphalian, Bayonne (France not NJ, lol) country, city, ah jeeze life is good! They sell a “homemade” ham done in a French style. People line up to buy the bone and it’s for soup but there is enough meat left on the bone to make a ham salad. That is my all time ❤️.

I voted for both "I don't like ham" and "i will eat ham." Those aren't mutually exclusive. I would eat ham if it was served to me, but I don't really like it and probably wouldn't choose to eat it if there are other options.

This is true for a big baked ham like would be served at Easter dinner. I'm fine with deli ham on a sandwich. Same with turkey -- don't like a big roasted turkey for Thanksgiving, but I'm fine with sliced turkey sandwiches later. (I think part of it is that I think both meats taste weird hot.)

I don’t love it but it’s a little bit more than just ok. I eat it maybe twice a year. I get a spiral sliced one and put a nice glaze on it. Then I do use a nice honey mustard.

I will eat (and serve) ham on the holidays. The only time I look forward to ham is when I cube the leftovers to toss in an omelet with peppers and onions.

Not a fan of ham either, but I got one this year for Easter. My southern hubby always complains that we don't ever have ham for the holidays, so I got a Honey Baked this year. I was surprised that I actually enjoyed a piece. Smoky with some sweetness and it was tender!

I like a ham and Swiss sandwich, but living solo I don’t buy a full size ham to cook. I had baked chicken thighs for my Easter meat.

It depends on what type of ham...American ham, not a fan and won't eat it. Spanish ham like iberico, oh yeah bring it on w/ the cava! 😍🤤

Ham is okay, but it's not holiday-worthy food.

I always serve it prior to the holiday as an "every day" meal (or 3) when it's highly discounted b/c my grocery budget kinda requires it. But that's all I do.

I'll probably do it again now that it's post-holiday for the 2 hams we eat per year. I much prefer turkey as a holiday meal...but only if I'm making it (b/c I've had a LOT of bad turkeys). I will say, one thing in ham's favor is it's an easier and safer cook for a bulk meal - I've had way fewer bad hams than bad turkeys in my life. But ham is always only mediocre, whereas turkey can be great.

Edit to Add: But I will say, turkey is only a fall/winter holiday meal, not a spring one.

Love ham. My wife tolerates it. So we might have ham once every two or three months. I don't need all the salt, and the local stores seem to have stopped carrying the reduced salt ham.

My Dad died very young and we received what seemed like 20 hams. All went in to the freezer. Of course a young Mom with 3 kids, having to go back to work, meant no waste. I feel like we ate ham for years. It was bad enough that years later if MIL was serving ham she always had something extra for me.

Now many years later I do buy and make ham. I like Honey Baked Ham, so I look for spiral sliced honey ham. We will eat that and not again for a couple of months. And if I happen on a "bad ham" then even longer. I'd never order it and rarely put on sandwich.

I said ham was ok. I don't hate it but don't gravitate to it. If too marbled I gag. If really good, like HBH, I enjoy. Just one of those right down the middle of the line foods, could fall either way.

That might change now that you said -

Pink meat freaks me out! Meat shouldn’t be pink!

That might weigh on me. :scared1:

I like ham. I don't go much out of my way to order it out. I occasionally make one, but just for the hambone so that I can make split pea soup. I know you can make it without, but it's just not the same.

Has anyone tried that new Honey Baked 'carver' ham? Seems less pricey and a smaller size compared to the traditional one. However, doesn't appear to be pre-sliced from the way it is described on their website.
