I need to use the power of the hive mind, crowd sourcing information. I'm hoping this thread is allowed to stay open to help not just myself but others who might be caught short looking for safe alternatives.
I'm not wanting this thread to veer into politics so please don't go down that road. I'm also not looking for health advice, I'm working under the direction of multiple medical professionals and trust what they are telling me. I deal with numerous dietary restrictions, several life-threatening allergies and a couple of other health issues that are managed thru diet.
I need to find a couple of safe-to-me foods that are produced in Canada to replace the ones I currently buy that come from the USA
Corn tortilla chips : can only have 3 ingredients - corn, vegetable oil (preferably sunflower but most are ok) & salt - might have water listed as well, that's ok. I can't find any that don't have hydrated lime or Calcium Hydroxide, neither of which are safe for me **** Corn MASA flour is NOT safe - they use lime to process it
A corn cereal: again, corn and not much else. Honey, sugar, salt are ok.
I'm struggling here, so many of my safe go-to foods are now on our don't buy list but those 2 are a BIG part of my diet because they travel safely for when I'm caught out of the house without access to a kitchen.
