John Hopkins Newsletter Article--What is going on here?

So John Hopkins Newsletter presented data saying that the deaths of Covid were not as excessive as we are being led to believe.

They then retracted the article, because people were using the data inaccurately.

But they have now put the data back up in a PDF.

And then go on to say this doctor isn't a medical doctor.

Why publish it in the first place?

I think they've explained themselves well enough here in the article you pasted in.

Rather than scrub it form its existence (which would most assuredly get people riled up with accusations of cover up, lies and all sorts of things) they've gone the route of providing a warning while still making the newsletter ultimately still available to view somewhere. I do see exactly where you are coming from though that it can send mixed messages.

While maybe not the most accurate article there is still the solid point the media is not discussing is that we really haven't had excess deaths in comparison to other years. Each year for the last 7-8 years at least there has been a small increase in overall deaths from the previous year and this year is the same small increase nothing crazy over the top more. So while maybe some more deaths are being tied to covid it is expected that x amount of people will die over the year, the cause is what fluctuates more from year to year.

I have read that back when it first came out.

What if it's more then just deaths? No ever thinks about what the long term affects could be like of you get Covid. There already has been talk about long term lung damage from Covid. All everyone looks at is deaths and think it's not that bad.

An acquaintance of ours has been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis after a long fight with covid.

I have read that back when it first came out.

Why do you say that there been few excess deaths then? Unless you disagree with the numbers I don't see how it can be seen any other way.
