As the title states - how do the crowds vary in January on weekdays vs weekends? With the exception of the MLK long weekend. Trying to decide between the 11-12th or 15-16th!

Depends...

Short answer: no one know for sure. Lots of things to factor in.

Weekdays are usually more crowded with low ticket price and unblocked passholders.

But that weekend if the first unblocked for MKs for the year...

But there is the child ticket deal and the Disney+ deal which could push people to go at anytime...

Gymnastics competition at the convention center that weekend too.

Probably a wash, choose the date that's most convenient for you.

In January, fireworks and Fantasmic will only be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday if that matters to you. Fantasmic might potentially not be showing though, even on the weekends. Hours likely to be shorter on the weekdays, too.

Weekdays can be surprisingly crowded, you just never know. School in, school out, no one seems to care anymore.

1/11 and 1/12 is actually not the first weekend in January Magic Keys can go. Three of four Magic Keys are valid Sunday 1/5. First weekend after the holidays are over could be slower. Or not. It’s just so hard to know.

We went today 11/17, which is the first weekend of the holiday season. In theory it should have been nuts and I was expecting it to be slammed but it was fine. Crowded yes, but totally manageable. Parking was very slammed in the morning but that was my fault for showing up at 9:30 with the rest of the world. 😂

We were in the park 10am to 7:30pm, used Multipass/LL/whatever we are calling it now and we rode 11 attractions, plus the train, plus had sit down brunch at Lamplight Lounge and it was a great day.

@joseph821 has been following the BB/CO Fantasmic dining package transition and it looks like Fantasmic might only be on Friday and Saturday Jan 10 and 11 that week.

I am booked 1/11-1/17 and have a Fantasmic dining package on Wednesday the 15th. We will be so disappointed if it's only on the weekends. Anyone know when Disney will have the times updated and decided?

In the past they sometimes do not show Fantastic on weekdays in the off season but if you were able to book a Fantastic reservation then it should be showing that night.

Interesting, so strange especially since it seems to be on midweek according to the previous poster who has a Fantastic reservation for a week night that week. Maybe an event that Sunday?

I see Fantasmic packages offered on Jan 10 and 11 but none on Jan 15. I have a feeling it was a glitch.

Strange because this is what I see.. lots of availability.

Thanks for this info. I just looked at the Magic Key calendars, and Sunday 1/5 and Monday 1/6 are booked out for all the Keys for both parks, which makes sense since 1/6 is the last day of the Christmas season. But strangely Friday 1/10 is also showing as full for a Disneyland start for all the Keys. Is there a special event happening that day?

I'm trying to pick one day to visit between 1/10, 1/11, and 1/12, and it's hard to figure out which might be best!
