IS there a Macaroni/ground beef casserole? I am making DH and I a niec salad for dinner. I have some defrosted ground beef I need to use in the fridge. Is there anything I can do with it with Mac and Cheese?

If you go to Kraftrecipes dot com, there is a place where you can put in what ingredients you already have (ground beef and macaroni) and it will give you a ton of recipes that call for those ingredients. I went and did the search myself and was going to post the recipe(s) here, but there are a ton! Hope that helps!

Instead of using the cheese in the Mac n Cheese, just make the macaroni.....
Dice some onion and add minced garlic and heat in large nonstick pan. Add ground beef after they've softened. Add a can of diced tomato, oregano, basil, salt and pepper to taste and then add in cooked macaroni. Nice one dish meal.

When I have a small amount of ground beef to use, I just make the Mac & Cheese as directed and stir in the hamburger.

Or my Mom's old favorite - she would cook ground beef- then add tomato soup - a little water not a full can and mix it into cooked elbow noodles. Wow I have not thought about that one in long time.

I do that too, and add a little shredded cheese to melt in it.

Hmmm. Never tried that one. Although my mom did very similar -- ground beef browned, add a can of condensed tomato soup (no water though), a spoonful of relish, and Voila! Sloppy Joes. We did very rarely have it over macaroni or noodles, but mostly put it onto burger buns.

If it is Kraft Mac and Cheese....I cook ground beef, boil the noodles, mix together with tomato sauce...you can add whatever things you like everyones taste is different I usually add garlic to ground beef and sugar to tomato sauce...anyway mix it up dish on plates...take the reserved cheese in the envelopes and let them sprinkle on top to taste

Hmmmm...interesting. OP, thanks for starting this thread! I might try this, except I just might mix the cheese powder with a little milk & margarine in a little bowl, and let them drizzle it on.

We used to make something with 1 lb ground beef, add in a jar of spaghetti sauce and macaroni noodles. Can put some mozzerella on top and bake in the oven until melted.

We do homemade hamburger helper. Groundbeef, add 1 pack of taco seasoning and cook mac and cheese. Stir together. This is much better than cheeseburger mac HH. Also cheaper. My crowd ulually requires 2 boxes mac and about 2 lbs meat, but I feed 5 including 2 boys that will eat you out of house and home.

Everyone probably knows this one but somehow I seem to be the only one who didn't. So easy:Basic Chili Mac. Combine
1 pkg Macaroni & Cheese,cooked by directions
1 can Chili, no beans
1 can diced tomatoes
in baking dish. Top with grated cheese. Bake 3:50 degrees until hot and cheese is melted about 25 minutes.

My family likes this recipe that we call Cheeseburger Macaroni:

1 lb hamburger meat
1 box Kraft mac and cheese
1 can mushroom soup
1/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup milk
Onion salt to taste

Cook hamburger meat with onion salt, drain grease. Cook macaroni. While macaroni is cooking, add mushroom soup, margarine, milk and powdered cheese. When macaroni is done, drain and add meat mixture.

One of my dad's "specialties" is "More" - as in, once you eat it, you'll want more. :)

Brown ground beef - with diced onion (optional)
Cook elbow mac
Mix together hamburger, macaroni, 1 can whole kernel corn, 1 can cream corn
Voila! More.

I like to take it one step further and plunk it in a casserole dish after I assemble it with some cheese - I do a layer of more, a layer of cheese, and so on. Then I just pop it in the oven long enough to melt the cheese. Yum!

I didn't say it was healthy - but it is delicious and one of my comfort foods.

I do this: make the mac and cheese. While that is boiling, put the beef in a skillet to heat it up. Add a can of rotel with most of the piquid drained off and heat it all though. stir it into the mac after you add the cheese, and heat a little longer . We really enjoy it.

Rachel Ray's Cheeseburger Chili Mac and Cheese

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground sirloin
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 1-2 cups beef stock (depending on how liquid-y you want it)
  • 1 pound whole wheat elbow macaroni
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp yellow cheddar (the sharper the better!)
Preparation

Pre-heat the broiler. Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat for the pasta.

Place a medium size pot over medium-high heat with two turns of the pan of EVOO, about 2 tablespoons. Add the meat to the pan and cook until golden brown, 5-6 minutes.

Add the onion and chili powder to the pan, then season with salt and pepper and cook until the onion is tender, 4-5 minutes. Add the ketchup, mustard and beef stock to the pot, bring up to a bubble and simmer until slightly thickened, 4-5 minutes.

While the chili is working, salt the boiling water and drop the pasta in the pot. Cook to al dente, according to the package directions, then drain thoroughly and return it to the pot.

Add the chili to the pot with the pasta and give everything a good toss. Transfer to a casserole dish and top with the shredded cheese. Place the casserole under the broiler to melt and brown the cheese. Serve with a simple salad alongside.

Heavens, just brown the ground beef, dice an onion, and mix in the mac and cheese. Alternatively, you can skip the cheese sauce and use your favorite tomato sauce, then top the whole thing with slices of American and bake it off for a few minutes to get the cheese melted. Its awesome, one of my favorites!

I used to make this as a teen. I must have found the recipe in a Woman's Day magazine and I used to have to cook dinner a few nights for my brothers. I recently found the recipe again and now made it for my kids and they liked it!!

I make my own Baked Mac and Cheese.

Brown ground beef in fry pan. I take a box of mac and cheese or cheeseburger hamburger helper. Cook the pasta. I then mix in a casserole dish. Cream of mushroom soup. Can of Milk. Powder Cheese Mix. Shredded Cheddar Cheese or you can use any shredded cheese you like. Mix in Pasta and ground beef. (make sure its well mixed). Top with breadcrumbs, Bake at 350 for 35 minutes.

SOOO YUMMY.
