I was thinking of getting DD's special teachers (art, gym, library and music) a $5 gift card since there are 4 teachers. I already purchased a $20 gift card for her teacher. Is $5 too cheap? Dunkin Donuts or Wawa (for those who aren't familiar with WaWa it is a convenience store, coffee, and sells gas too) popular here in Jersey.

If that is what you can afford and feel it is enough, then don't worry about the person who is receiving the gift thinks.

Or you can look at it this way, Would a $5.00 gift card to Dunkin Donuts be enough for you to use and enjoy?

You will get a lot of different answers here, nothing is right or wrong.

Noticed, I didn't add that I feel it is perfect amount and do the Dunkin Donut ones all the time.

I think a $5 gift card to WaWa or Dunkin Donuts is a nice gift for special area teachers! A nice thought... I think the special teachers get forgotten about often. It's nice of you to think about them and I'm sure they will appreciate your gift.

Thats what we did, $5 for people like the bus driver. We also got a few of the special teachers a bag of lindt chocolate balls which were on sale for $3 for a bag of them. I know I would be happy to have a $5 card!

I think that is great. I asked my own kids for $5 gift certificates (the restaurant doesn't do gift cards yet) to my favorite lunch spot. I can get soup and breadsticks - A free lunch. The $5 is perfect.

I have close friends who are teachers, and trust me, they would rather have a gift card for any amount than the dozens of trinket gifts they get at the holidays and at the end of the year (lotions, soaps, candy, socks, etc).

there is no way they would be disappointed in a $5 gift card!!

I'm a special area teacher and I'd totally LOVE a $5 gift card. I think it's absolutely appropriate.

$5 is fine for ANY teacher--we are HONESTLY pleased with any recognition with a gift.

It is perfect! I love to get them from Star Bucks. The local doughnut place or even a fast food place it great too.

Do not feel guilty. MUCH better than another mug;)

I'm not a teacher but I know that I personally don't ever splurge on dunkin donuts or things like that. So $5 would be a big treat and an excuse for me to treat myself. Any place where $5 will cover something, whether it is coffee, a dessert, etc, is appropriate. I think the only time it might be inappropriate is if it was a $5 gift card to a place where they would HAVE to add to it to use it. Like a $5 gift card to banana republic. haha

just went into my dunkin donuts to do the same tonight and they were all out of gift cards. i think $5 is perfect for all the cluster teachers. ps i am a teacher and love my $5 coffee gift cards (guilt free treats)

I do $5 Dunkin Donuts gift cards for teachers and dance teachers. It's enough for a couple coffees, so I figure that its good :thumbsup2

It is not a matter of price, the gift itself will show your care for the receiver imho. :)

I don't think it is at all. That's what I was going to do until I heard from my DD's teacher doesn't like coffee. So I went to Marshall's instead and got bags of Lindt truffles for $5.

I would love a cup of coffee! :)

I give $5 Panera Bread or Subway gift cards depending on the person. Love the Dunkin Donuts idea!

I think a $5 DD gift card is a perfect idea. Even if the person doesnt like coffee, they can still get tea, bfast sandwiches, munchkins, etc. And honestly, it's the thought that counts!

I think those convenience store cards are great. And $5 could grab a coffee or two. Maybe a smoothie, or a sandwich. Its a nice acknowledgment and something that they can tuck back for a cold commute into work one morning.

I'm a teacher, out sick again today, can't quite beat this sinus infection! I would love a $5 gift card to a coffee place on teh way to work. there are days when I jsut don't have time to make coffee or run out of coffee and having that would be awesome!

Back when it was popular, I used to get $5 Blockbuster gift cards, sometimes Target, etc. For the last several years, I have bought movie tickets at Costco, or the AMC movie gift cards. I upped it to giving each a pair of movie tickets.

THIS year, my special needs son is 21, so it is his last year in school. And I just came into some $$ (inheritance), so I am going all out...... I buy for teacher, 4 aides, bus driver, and bus aide. I am thinking $50 each, they will be surprised! Not sure which gift cards to buy though, still mulling it over. (movie gift card for $50, would be enough for a family, that is one idea. Or for a restaurant chain. Or Target. Wawa (they sell gas, too) ) It is fun to think about it........
