If the China Epcot pavilion expanded, would you want a Mulan (1998 version) themed attraction/ride or house walkthrough added?

I’m all for adding rides anywhere - anytime! Mulan in China, Mary Poppins or Great Mouse Detective or Alice in England, Cinderella in France, Pinocchio in Italy, Pocahontas in US….

I would do something of a dark ride, but in a vehicle that is like a Chinese dragon that moves along an elevated, wavy track, so liek a roller-coaster, but slow moving. I would not make it a thrill ride, aside from maybe a small drop enhanced by effects.

The war trail/mountain battle and ending with the forbidden city celebration?

While I'd love to see something new, I don't think a Mulan attraction would go in there. I think the purpose of this pavilion is to introduce the world to the many wonders of China, which it does ver well.

It's a sports washing version compared to the other pavilions. At least a Mulan attraction would be an already known Disney commodity based very loosely on an ancient legend/poem.

Exactly what I would hate to see happen. Having actually been to China I found it interesting that the pavilion is such a good reflection of what actually exists. It doesn't need a tie-in to a Disney commodity.

100% agree. I've never like that they have added IP to the World Showcase. It was supposed to teach you about the country and it's culture. Frozen has nothing to do with Norway, Donald Duck has nothing to do with Mexico, Ratatouille has nothing to do with France except it was set there and they do have such a dish. I enjoyed the original rides in both Norway and Mexico and see no reason why, if you must have a ride, it can't be like those were. I even have no problem with the movies shown in Canada, China and France (not the Beauty and the Beast sing along but the original).

I'm not a fan of all the Disney IP tie-in to the World Showcase countries. I want to see something that is unique or special to that country and it's culture.

I don't mind the IP where it makes sense. What I firmly believe though is that World Shocase needs more attractions, whatever they may be.

EPCOT ceased being a learning park decades ago. FutureLand died a slow painful death we all watched, leaving echos in big halls. The World Showcase was no longer a draw for learning and honestly you can probably blame the internet. Prior to that much of the world was only seen on some tv shows, in books & magazines and for 3D something like EPCOT. Now people can travel anywhere they want on the internet often getting much better views than in person, and more people are traveling internationally with ease. World Showcase became stagnant, a beautiful shopping mall & dining space. Add that late 90's also brought Animal Kingdom, a new refreshing concept park ... competing with EPCOT.

EPCOT needed energy and money so started the shift to Festivals. There was no money for more Pavilions nor attractions. Festivals were a low budget way to encourage visitors and spending, lots of spending. But even Food & Wine nor Flower & Garden brought in the families, brought in the number of visitors they wanted. I know some that once they had kids stopped going there, spent their time at other parks where there was FUN for the kids. They were on vacation and not interested in making it a learning experience.

The Norway pavilion had been dead except for the Princess dining. The ride was walk on and walk off as most guests didn't stop in theater to watch the movie. That brought in Frozen, Anna & Elsa. It was a risk, just because the gals were popular elsewhere were they worth a park ticket? The crowds came, the families came and Disney had the answer they were looking for. Guests were now coming for Disney stories, characters, attractions. Disney had to begin making EPCOT a #mustdo for families and everyone not interested in learning or festivals. You know what was great about Diet EPCOT? The park was dead empty and those who were purists could have it to themselves. That isn't good for Disney at all. And Festivals likely didn't draw more of the family pools.

EPCOT is still unique, still different from the other parks, still a great draw for a wide range of guests for a variety of reasons. But it is a Disney park and most guests traveling there expect Disney to be woven into everything. Disney is still teaching about other countries even when it includes fairy tales or stories woven from the other cultures. How many children learned about other places through the eyes of a Disney movie & characters? It isn't disrespectful, it is opening doors to create an interest to continue learning after you leave. Having fun on a ride or attraction can stimulate more than the moment.

Norway declared their tourism had gone WAY UP since Frozen was added to Norway pavilion. I would love a Mulan ride in China pavilion. Most trips we walk right by. The movie & exhibits haven't changed in years. The store is less and less unique items, and other than a Kidcot stop we don't even venture in. Same goes for other countries. Our main draw is GoG, Remy and FEA. I haven't even see night show in a couple of years. There are empty pavilions, there is empty space in Germany & Japan that were to be rides, there are "learning spots" that are empty of guests, there is even an entire empty pavilion building. I would like to see more rides to bring in more people to a HIGH capacity park that is underutilized ~ and take some crush off the two parks with more rides and Disney atmosphere. AND make the LL have more value so folks don't feel need to leave park to use LL at another.

I understand the purism, but Disney needs these parks to maximize profits and make majority of guests happy. Adding a Disney IP attraction in no way takes away from the atmosphere and look of these pavilions, if designed well. Maelstrom, China movie, Canada movie, France movie .... EMPTY queues and attractions have proven most guests have no interest. Even though Mexico boat has it's fans, it is still a few minute wait. Longer wait to get off the boat, than on. Most the shops are empty of shoppers, ADRs no longer hard to get. Disney has learned from the more recent attractions that they do bring in more guests, just not enough right now to fill restaurants and boost shopping.
