Okay. First things first: an update for anyone who read my May TR. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has OFFICIALLY beat the "gives-Kait-muscle-spasms" allegations. We can talk more about how I came to this conclusion later.
Second things second... want to start things off with a quick glossary of terms you'll find in this report. This should help keep track of the insane ramblings of my latest vacation.
Diabolical (di·a·bol·i·cal): adjective
Definition: Something DELICIOUS. Something CHOCOLATELY, and CREAMY, usually with coffee or liquor or candy. Something so sweet, over-the-top, and yummy that it should be illegal. Can apply to savory treats too if they're rich enough, but this is mostly for the sweet treats of the world.
Example: "Before I tapped into Epcot, I ordered an absolutely diabolical iced latte with caramel and chocolate syrup from Joffrey's."
Diva (di·va): noun
Definition: Any fabulous, independent person. Can also apply to items and foods in certain instances. Used in a positive connotation. Will be used primarily in this report to describe villainous characters, amazing CMs, and yours truly.
Example: "This diva was ready to do some shopping at the Emporium."
Divalicious (di·va·li·cious): adjective
Definition: A man, woman, event, or thing holding Diva qualities.
Example: "This was the most divalicious trip ever!"
And that brings us to the start of my latest trip report!
Okay... I know I say something similar to this every time I start a new TR, but this time I really mean it. This was the absolute best Walt Disney World vacation ever! I am a total realist when it comes to the Parks, so I like to share the good, the bad, and the ugly. Very rarely will I come home from a vacation and say "wow, that was basically perfect!" but, you guys... this was a really, really, really, really good trip.
This was my second solo vacation and I truly could not have had a better time. If you followed along on my PTR, you know that this trip was basically like a baby to me. I was so excited to chart my own course and build the trip of my dreams. I tried so many new experiences on this trip, and I even revisited a few things that I've been putting off because they don't work out with my family's vacation plans. Speaking of family vacations -- if you read my May TR, let's just say that this was the ultimate "revenge trip" for all of that time I lost because of the muscle spasm!
If you didn't read my PTR or my May TR, I would love to introduce myself. Hi! I'm Kait. Also known as Newsies on the DIS.
I'm a 27-year-old diva from NJ currently working in community & review management for a company I adore. I live with my parents and younger sister, and together, we make one big, happy, insane, Disney-loving family! Our first Disney vacation was in 2010. Since 2014, we've been visiting annually, and have been DVC members at the Poly since 2017. I'm definitely the Disney knowledge database of the group and do 90% of our planning and 100% of our booking. I've been very passionate about Disney since I was in high school, and in college, I got to complete my dream of working for Walt Disney World twice on two different DCPs (Fall 2016 and the short-lived Spring 2020). I loved being a Cast Member and I carry those memories with me everywhere I go. My favorite park is Epcot (though Animal Kingdom gave it a run for its money this trip!), favorite resort is Riviera, favorite ride is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and favorite snack is an ice cream treat from the Plaza!
On a non-Disney note... I am also very independent. If you've ever heard the phrase "extroverted introvert," that's a great way to describe me. I love talking to people, especially strangers. In fact, all of the best memories I have from this trip include me interacting with CMs, characters, and other guests. But I also love quiet time & spending time by myself, and I've always just kind of been like that. I've never had a problem going to the movies, running errands, going shopping, etc. by myself, and in fact-- I prefer to spend time alone most of the time. It's not that I don't love spending time with my friends & family! But when I was in high school and reading Elevationist's epic solo adventures here on the TR boards, I knew I would dream of doing a solo vacation like this one day. So my hope is that if you're contemplating a solo trip of your own, I can use this TR to give you some insight into what it's like to tour the Parks alone. Spoiler alert: it's divalicious.
SO LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS! Presenting the 5 Ws of this TR...
Who: Just me!
What: A divalicious solo trip!
When: September 8-14, 2024
Where: Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo House)
Why: Because a solo trip has always been a dream of mine!
I really did pack a lot into this trip. I had a 4-day park hopper ticket package, plus 1 day at Universal Studios, plus TWO (2) Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Parties! I also had a few ADRs and enchanting extras booked, namely Jiko, Boma (breakfast and dinner), Sanaa, and the Starlight Safari. I basically did a grand tour of DAKL experiences. This was also my first time using the new LLMP system, so I'll talk about that here as well, and I'll share some of my favorite Food & Wine Festival dishes.
I think this is where I can wrap up my introduction post. It's been a lot of yapping. I'm very excited to share a very fun, funny, and chaotic week with you all. So as a huge Saturday Night Live fan, it's my honor to leave you all with this teaser for the upcoming TR with the help of Weekend Update city correspondent, Stefon:
