I've had a can a sealer stuff for the longest time now, but it says it has to sit for at least 24hrs. Doesn't work in an apartment...

Well we have ressies coming up with an extra day in the beginning. If I seal the tent on Monday, could we sleep in it Tuesday night?? I'll pay the extra day for not having to wake up to raining nights again for another few visits at least. It's not bad like it pours in, but I have to doohicky up some towels to keep the floor dry.

Do you have any tarps ? Have you heard of the Tarpman ?

In the rainy season you see a lot of tenter's with tarps covering their set up. Some use the easy up shelters like CLKELLEY and some just use blue tarps, some rope and make a tarp/roof over the hole site Wish I had some pictures but you'll see plenty when you get to the fort.

If you are using what I think you are, a product called Seam Sealer for tents, you'll be fine. If it does not rain for 24 hours after you apply it you'll be good to go. It does have a bit of a smell but this dissipates fairly quickly, you could probably use it the same night it if it not to damp out.

The main reason for the 24 hours is you should not fold the tent up for at least that long, the product can stay tacky for quite awhile depending on how humid it is and you can end up gluing your tent together.

I have tarps, but I usually forget them half the time. And they really help with keeping the cold air in with the AC.

But the tent could use a new seal on it. We've been using it since like 2004. So it's been to the fort a lot.

I hope we have cooler drier weather but right now it's humid... but we should have the tent open for like 5-6 nights. But I'd like to check in a day before her parent's get here with thier RV, so I can unload everything from the truck easier.

Right now our tent smells like laundry softner because a bottle spilt all over the carrying bag in the truck bed... so it got a few hours to soak into it too. But at least it's not a bad smell.
